^ NCS works great for montages. I know this might sound dumb, but windows movie maker works fine for simple montages and edits (i think its only available for windows)
For a good, free editor, I'd strongly recommend using Camtasia Studio 8. It has a 30-day free trial, which can be overcome using this, and is really easy to use along with being very effective ^-^
No offense but Tobu music is really bad and overused, plus a bunch of MCSG people just use that in their montages, so I wouldn't recommend Tobu for montage music.

Whenever I try launching Camtasia it just crashes. :/
Just use Windows Movie Maker. As for the music, use songs you enjoy listening to. Getting good clips and timing them correctly is far more important than the music though.
