Question for staff

Since its easier and more likely to get answered here then on Skype. Why does Sho have the "Retired" rank? If I recall correctly its only for staff that have spent 3+ months on the staff team. I'm just curious to know why.
The way the policy is worded, what you said earlier is incorrect. The second part, it appears, is conditional to the first — anyone who has spent at least three months on the staff team is eligible for the rank, but it is still subject to the administrators' decision whether or not the person should actually be awarded the rank. This means that someone can be a staff member for a year and still not get the rank because they are deemed unfit.
At the same time, this means that a staff member who has spent less than three months is ineligible, regardless of how the administrators feel. By giving the rank to a player who, apparently, is ineligible for it in the first place, one would basically be infringing staff policies.

Yo, I know what the policy is. I got my stuff confirmed. Actually the second statement overrules the first one. I forgot to mention that.

Yes, you're the one that's wrong. You're able to get the retired rank with the admins consent, however, you still need to have 3 months+ as a staff to be up for the rank's standards.

Wouldn't that mean the first statement is nullified? If the administrators can grant them the rank despite not meeting the time requirement, then it's entirely up to the administrators' preference, no? If so, that leans closer to what people may label "bias".
Yes, Michael and I have been giving most staff members the retired rank despite what the policy says. However, the retirement part of the policy has not been updated since Jozz was Admin. In fact, I've just updated it. It's not a very big deal in my opinion. Players who have taken time out of their day to help out the server do in fact deserve to receive some recognition. The retired rank only appears on profiles. It's a simple little thing that serves only a small purpose. If you have a complaint, message me on Skype. Don't harass Iron.
Not everything is bias, the admins aren't that one-sided.
Okay, the policy says that you must meet the requirement of being a staff member for three months or longer, and then the administrators can decide whether to grant you a "retired" rank when you quit. You're making it sound like everyone else is wrong. You say that it's not bias, but it clearly is. Sho has not been a staff member for three months; why is he an exception to the staff policy?
Edit: Never mind, I guess Peachy just changed the policy.

I like how you just changed your name to post something.
I would let the high-ranking staff deal with it the best way possible since they're so well trained, I mean, they're in that position for a reason, right? Oh wait...

Mate, I am a high ranking staff. I have been trying to tell you to contact me, but you don't want to. Im turning my engine on, but you gotta hop in the car.

Thanks, I honestly couldn't have lived the rest of my life without knowing that, especially because I totally can't see your "Senior Moderator" tag. Also, since you are high-ranking, why don't you fix it instead of asking me? I'm just a regular after all.
Write a comprehensive policy, keep said policy from becoming obsolete, and make sure others comply with it (whether or not that only works in theory, I can't speak for, since I don't have full knowledge of the situation as staff do, and, because I'm not staff, this shouldn't even be my business). It's, ideally, what should happen, and with a little exertion of effort in the beginning and minimal maintaining over time, it would prevent unnecessary arguments like these. Don't remove it entirely — to quote Dutchis, "Players who have taken time out of their day to help out the server do in fact deserve to receive some recognition."

Oh My Lord, why are you complaining to me then? Im just asking for evidence. Thats it, literally. Why do you have "Strong Evidence," if you cant give it to me.

0 minutes, maybe that's why I shouldn't be asked to solve server issues?
You're part of the community, we run based off of the community. Also, we want to fix problems to prevent posts like the ones you're making so that we can make the community better overall.

Nothing was wrong until 99 decided so. No one cared until 99 brought it up.

"The bias is going to destroy this server. The favoritism among the staff is so obvious at this point, at least to me. If there could be 10 admins (I don't know if there can be more than 2), I can pretty much predict who they would be without deserving it one bit. And no, I'm not just saying this because I agree with everyone else or because I just want to upset the staff, I have strong evidence. Disgusting." That's what he started with. You should analyze yourself instead of asking him for evidence.

Juanoh, he called the staff team disgusting. Based on his Evidence I want this evidence, it would be helpful. The point of evidence is to backup arguments. Not to use as a grudge.

You guys don't understand, if you wanted to make the community better, you wouldn't be carrying out this obvious bias. You're probably going to reply with something like "We don't know what bias you're talking about, please tell us". The sad thing is you do know, it's way too obvious.

You'll never succeed in life if you don't go further. As I said, if he doesn't want to give you the evidence, why don't you try to find it by yourself?

Honestly, I know bias is an issue. It is an issue with everyone alive to a certain extent. And we've heard it so many times and we work on it and try, we really do. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but we work on it. I already sent you a Skype request, it would be best if you just explain to me what bias you're talking about and provide the evidence you claim to have so much of and just work it out with us.

Because he brought it up. Why should I have to look for evidence when he could easily just give it to me, and we could just end the debate.
Nothing was wrong until 99 decided so. No one cared until 99 brought it up.
Obviously something was wrong, which is why he brought it up — staff members were not acting in accordance with the written policy, which was revealed to be outdated. That itself is the error, and it caused confusion, which is why it was brought up for clarification.

It's so much more convenient and efficient to simply give the evidence and work out the issue as opposed to doing days, weeks, or even months of watching which would generate even more issues in the meantime.
I'll go ahead and give some examples, FestivalTesticle has not been banned because of his inappropriate name. His name basically says Penis Party yet, he gets to remain here. Just because he was once a staff member doesn't mean he doesn't have to oblige to the rules.
The next admin I believe is taken off a vote of 1 person and the approval of 2 others, (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Then why are you talking to me? Tell that to Alien, he's the one claiming about having some sort of evidence. I said the same thing but I just tried to be supportive. I'm not wasting my time on stuff I don't care about as stated above.

We updated the policy. We said so. What else would you like to criticise us for?

Did you just find out it was an issue today or something? If you had known, hmm, let's say, two weeks ago, things wouldn't be the way they are. It's obvious you don't work on it.

No, but I can't work on something I don't know about. Like I said, it's an issue for everybody alive. We work on it, and people have been demoted for it. If you work with us then we can fix it, easy as that.

You wouldn't have argued like this had this not been brought up, your point is?
We updated the policy. We said so. What else would you like to criticise us for?
I understand that, I know. All I've been doing is illuminating your mistakes, of which I believe you have made many and so I posted many replies, and trying to offer some sort of help, but you practically insist on portraying me in a negative light, which, coming from a staff member of your prestige, I don't appreciate. "What else would you like to criticize us for?" Everything I've said is objective.

It was determined that his name was appropriate and filed under "more of a joke name". I don't think anyone would get offended to something like that, especially when it's meant for humor.

Just out of curiosity what determines/classifies a joke name?
"Players who have taken time out of their day to help out the server do in fact deserve to receive some recognition." That's just poor wording you're basically saying everyone on the server deserves retired rank?
This is turning into a staff vs member thing and it it getting even more stupid. Sho has a tag congrats. Moderators need to work on a lot of stuff and the community needs to work on stuff
wow ya'll acting like bias gonna be a big deal in dis lik wtf ya'll think is going on? Guys what gave him the rank probably thought "man, sho did really good as mod and ima miss him, he deserves some recognition so ima give him retired" and did so. It's only biased in that the admins or whatever figured that they mighta figured he deserved the retired rank a bit more quickly or a bit more easily than another player, but that's human instinct and tbh it's all speculation so aint gonna hold out worth a damn in an argument. And damn it if someone wants a retired rank real bad they can just go ask for it, if they were really a good mod then there aint no reason to deny them, admins aint unreasonable. Damn ya'll some petty ass fucks, makes me disgusted to know that ya'll gonna make a big ass forum thread bitchin about a frickin name tag. A NAME TAG. SMH
Lol, I was the moderator that had 100+ infraction pages dealt by me with 10 months of work. I think you replied to the wrong person. Plus I really hope you didn't forget I was the one who did this.

Holy... People arguing over a tag. Ok, just to clear up things I'm going to say exactly how I retired. When I pmed Docta on slack after consulting with jozz that I wanted to retire, he agreed to demote me. However I said I didn't really CARE about having the "retired" rank, but if it was possible to get it that I would LIKE to have it, for the sake of people not being confused about wether I was demoted or not and other possible situations. So please people, GET over it. If some of you are that thirsty to get a shiny black tag on a block game forum and are gonna bash me for "not moderating for 3 months" GO AHEAD and remove it, i really don't care. I'm just ashamed of how the community handles shit over things that don't even matter.

You don't even understand... IT IS A TAG. I have harassed 5 different mods and didn't get one. I even use photoshop to get myself a cool tag late at night. Your ignorance to my feelings are why I left you. Goodbye, our hearts will never meet again.

What I'm curious about, is why this has carried over to 6 pages. 6. That's ridiculous.
I'm not going to remove or lock the post, but this should have stopped at page 1-3.. The fact that it's gone this far is crazy. It's a simple question, that should have gotten a simple answer. Discussion is fine, but for people to actually cause drama over something as insignificant as this is absurd. I'd like to see this thread die down a bit, especially because the man himself has now answered the question.
I know this is contributing to the 6 pages, but it's just... strange. Very strange, that so many of us feel the need to push this that far. It's a tag, a simple tag. As well, my post never said that you were required to moderate for 3 months to receive the tag. As far as I know, it was actually 4 weeks, and you were required to be a "Moderator"+. Nothing in my thread ever said 3 months. Again, strange.

We know the tag is not a big deal but it got us stuck into a discussion related with the bias in the server. Your tag was just the begining of all this plot.

It's not the fact alone that you have the rank on your profile, it's the prospect that the staff would act on a whim and against what the written, "set-in-stone" (and obsoleted) policies say — this is almost exactly like what bothered eighteenth-century colonial Americans into rebelling against England, and we can clearly see the results of that. After a couple pages, though, this thread seems to have retrograded into a somewhat different discussion...

I'll tell you why it reached up to here. This tag issue involves bias as it contradicted the "tag" rule. As you can see, many people hate that and are complaining about the bias.
Oh...as my heart rushes all I can see is that retired rank. My heart skipped a beat after we made eye contact. It came closer with her blue eyes and fair blue hair. It looked at me and said, "You are never getting me."

Yea I didn't read the thread before posting that xd But again, the tag issue is so insignificant, that I'm amazed as to how it led to a discussion about Bias. How is there bias? It was probably a simple mistake on the staff members' parts, rather than actual bias.
I still find it absurd that this was dragged on for so long. It's a simple issue, that, really, has already been resolved. I'm expecting the thread to slow down very soon.. At least, that is what I hope happens.
I really wish we could keep this sorta stuff of the forums. Of course still be talked about , but just not here , doesn't look good for new users wanting to join.

The funny thing is that 99250 even said that he didn't intend to relate this topic to bias, but knowing Avicus....
I don't think it matters whether or not the rank has permissions. If there are set requirements for someone needed to have in order to acquire the 'Retired' rank, it shall be determined by those set requirements. From what I see, there is a misunderstanding of what the requirements are. There should be set requirements needed in order to acquire a 'Retired' rank, and nothing should be added unless it's official, so in the future there would be little to no confusion, or nothing dramatic like this. Essentially what I'm saying is, have official requirements that each staff member is aware of, and make no other changes to it especially if it's not official like what I assume happened in this case, so that this whole issue wouldn't come up again.
A majority of the speculation here is over possible bias, not just the main purpose of this thread (Sho receiving a 'Retired' tag despite the guidelines for it saying specifically that it was for moderators whom served the server with their position 3+ months.)
In all honesty, it's now becoming a bit of a flame war to find excuses to blame the staff team for bias, even if it's not mentioned directly in the statements brought up. It's the same thing over and over, guys. The staff team do their best to ensure fun gameplay for all users by taking time out of our lives to do so. We may have a few hiccups here and there, but that doesn't mean the community of which we serve should start creating huge issues over it. We take all these occasional problems into account, even if it may not seem like it in the perspectives of others , but it's rather difficult to deal with them thoroughly with others complaining about it repetetively and losing faith in the team quite quickly.
Keep in mind that I'm not saying the staff team is perfect. I'm just pointing out some things people may not realise regarding certain topics.
I also apologise if any statements in this post are considered as rude or offensive, as this serves a different purpose other than hurting the feelings of others.
"The staff are biased" You know what? GET OVER IT Because no matter where you go, there will be bias, and you can't fix that! We are arguing over a part of a $20 dollar video game that has limitless amounts of possibilities, if you can't stand the bias, go to another server, oh wait, there's bias there too, because you know what, staff members make friends, and then they will let their friends slip, because they don't want to lose that friend, if you can't stand it that much, I suggest single player, or do something like connect with friends in survival or creative or you can download adventure maps that people have made, there's so much that you can do, so why make such a fuss, there are positives and negatives for every choice, the negatives for servers is that you have to embrace the fact that the staff are imperfect. The staff aren't professionals, they never will be, sure they could be better, but we all can be better. If all you ever do is complain about the server, Stop. Playing. The. Server. And. Find. Another. One
I'm not trying to tell you leave avicus, but if all you do is whine and never do anything about it, you must not care about the server very much

I understand bias is a human nature, however there is still room to improve, and the room for improvement is endless, as stated before. And, if someone is 'whining' and you claim they don't care about the server, why would they even take the time to 'whine' if they didn't care?
