Not sure if anyone has noticed, but the servers have been restarting to support Minecraft versions 1.7.2 through 1.8.3. We supplied our reasons towards upgrading but many other servers have not followed suit in the switch which has been detrimental to our players and player count. Those who choose to use a 1.7 version will likely experience slow network connection to the server, but the features they desire. 1.8 users will largely have the same experience. We encourage the use of 1.8 because, although we have support for 1.7 currently, it is only a matter of time before we go full 1.8 once again. The much undesired PVP changes will be back, and that is not within our control. Please voice your concerns kindly to Mojang, not us.
Note that it may take up to an hour or so for some users due to the delay in DNS updating. For many it will work right away, though some game servers have yet to restart.
Seems that 1.8 also has a slow connection so The only difference I see between the versions is all the bugs 1.8 brought. I don't see how 1.8 helped the server in the slightest, all I have seen is staff blame the bugs on 1.8 and leave it at that... Why update to 1.8 if there are game breaking bugs that cause unfair deaths, unfair wins, etc.

1.8 did bring many blocks into Minecraft increasing map makers' imaginations.
So a couple blocks vs game breaking bugs that ruin the fun for every player? k m8
Just trying to say that 1.8 isn't all bad. It's sad that people were leaving because of 1.8. Avicus is more than just a bunch of minigames you know. It's got a great community that is hard to leave behind. The people who left were a lot like Randys to me.
If you made this announcement once the Omega Update came out, I would have kissed you. But playing 1.8 for a couple of weeks, made me realize that it isn't that bad. Yes I am still getting used to it, but I have grown as a PvPer. When I used 1.7, I frequently used the blockhitting almost to the point where I over used it. With 1.8, it forced me to start using more PvP strategies and. For me, I am going to stick with 1.8. But, I am really thankful that the staff have taken our pleas into consideration. Thank you!
You know I actually kind of got used to 1.8 (still sucks though) but I'm glad you made the change. I know you probably didn't want to do it so I respect you for that.

I wasnt a randy, but I cant play with 4 fps.
Explain that?
Plus I was still on the forums, and was sill waiting for my new PC.
Blockhitting felt different because the animation was gone, players didn't turn red when you hit them, and those with not-so-good computers experienced unwanted FPS lag. Juts a few examples on the PvP side.

Oh on the PvP side. That explains why I wasn't aware ;P
Wait can someone please explain the hatred toward MC1.8 to me? I really still don't understand...
Not to mention everyone is invisible for the first minute of the game, half the people are invis for the entire game until they relog, block lag and so on

Oh for some reason I never made the connection between 1.8 and the invisible issue. I thought that was idiopathic.

Ik what you mean, even though I never played 1.8, my Grandmothers PC has a shitty mouse that cant blockhit.

In 1.8 hits register weird for a lot of people. Also, 1.8 causes huge fps drops for a lot of people. For example, my fps goes from 360 down to 60, occasionally dropping down to 20 on Kohi, which screws up aim and can make the game unplayable for some.
How 1.8 works PvP-wise: In 1.8 if you get first hit, you gain 0.25 of a block's reach and your opponent's reach gets reduced to around 1.25-2 blocks. So you're screwed if you don't get first hit 1.8, which is why a lot of people hate it.
I think the only time we will have to revert back to 1.8 is when the 1.9 conbat update comes out, although I think that it would be ok if we went to 1.9 only.
Wait, so you rely on blockhitting, and don't even strafe when you can blockhit?
No, not anymore if you know what I mean ;)
But I didnt even used to, but what im saying is I dont blockhit on close range , I actually strafe there. The only times I blockhit is Im in a desperate situation or Im in a 1x1 whole... xD or tunnel, you know
