Didn't get along with you a majority of the time I was on the staff team, and we never agreed on anything. I got exceedingly frustrated with incompetence or stubbornness coming from all different levels of the spectrum in the staff team when I was staff, and you somehow got caught in it. You weren't as bad as I remember, and I apologize for the rudeness. When you try to be progressive and get everything knocked out from under you (at least the entire duration of my mod+ career trying to fix things) you'd understand how I felt. You had good ideas and you were a good moderator, just needed to improve hack detection. We never really spoke but looking back on it I was exceedingly harsh on you.
You were pretty much my punching bag at the time, to be honest. You were mod at the most difficult period of time of Avicus.
You are the server's number one map creator next to Evocal. You are the most creative and absolutely hilarious person I've ever had the honor of talking with on this server. I believe we had a few disagreements, but you've always been there to lighten the mood back up. You made a lot of things more tolerable for me, and I thank you :>
Opinions on the current state of the staff team? Opinions on Avicus' Development? Possible Opinions on me?
Opinions on the current state of the staff team? Thank you for asking this question.
The staff team is very disappointing in its current state. Compare it to when every other administrator was around: there was much more of a push for progress. There were announcements constantly with changes, and it was a lot more smoother even with admins dipping in and out. The translation team ran by Posideon was the worst disaster I've seen on the server: they did little work, they were confused as to what to do, there were no regulation with them, and only now because Passively got a hold of it do we see that he opened applications and is a lot more open about it. I am also disappointed with how the prize pool money event happened, and each tournament gets worse. The competitive scene is dying and going to Stratus quite obviously, and nobody is working to see it as an actual competition between servers. Avicus needs to think about keeping its teams interested. Right now, without scrim servers, active developers, awful tournaments, lack of events, and the fact the officials are disorganized and even had to vote on enforcing a rule shows a bad spotlight for the server. We've also been damaged because of a post or two on /r/competitiveminecraft showcasing the disaster we had.
It's summer, and we're supposed to be growing. We're dying. We had 3 months from the initial lifeboat announcement to OCN closing, and we did absolutely nothing to optimize the experience for the players to come here. We have wasted opportunity after opportunity and nothing will change that. We're being overshadowed by Stratus now, and they're even growing more with the development of a tournament scene. They have up to 80 players now and they organize scrims, the refs are organized, everything is amazing over there and the people are amazing. Meanwhile, a player will make the decision not to play Avicus. After all, why would you register over here when you can play on a server that outshines us in every way?
Also, slightly off topic, this server is completely demotivating. There's nothing to do here and essentially when I do something, after 3 years of trying to help, I feel demotivated because nothing will happen and I'm putting my work towards nothing. I have held up my end of the deal and with the staff problems and community problems, there's absolutely no point. I haven't really done any map development work other than build 2-3 maps the past month. Avicus isn't going anywhere.
Opinions on Avicus' Development? I am glad we got a new dev and that Keenan has been checking in the past few days more, but ultimately I don't think we're going to get much farther than we already are. All that I can recall on the list is more donor perks, but in terms of modules and everything we're set. We can make a TON of custom gamemodes and possibilities with map XMLs, but nobody has tried anything because either there's a lack of documentation/understanding for the standard player, or there's no practical use yet for said module. We're basically good on everything else, but we NEED to be online more as a server. Server keeps going down. Not good.
What is one thing you wish you did differently while you were part of the moderator team?
Story behind the name ParaSpider? Was working on projects with ParaPenguin and ParaPhoenix, decided to steal how they did their names and became a ParaSpider so I could seem like I was involved. Wasn't a good idea, I shouldn'tve leeched off their brand.
Story behind the name Kavinsky? One of my favorite musical artists, makes 80s inspired music. Snagged the name. Favorite map that you didn't build? In general, Warlock. In Avicus, Wahiz. Opinions on me? Very dedicated and intelligent. Can't think of any improvements, you've always been a good representative of the server since as long as I can remember.
What is one thing you wish you did differently while you were part of the moderator team? As moderator. I wish I had bonded more with the team and created actual relationships/friendships with people, because I have absolutely none of that now and I feel like I wasted my time. I actually do feel sad sometimes that I don't have any friends on Avicus, but it was mostly my fault. Bonus: as admin, I wish I hadn't done the "global warming" thing that got me demoted for abuse.

well spoken dude lmao
you should become developer :P You seem to know quite alot of what avicus needs and doesnt need.

Unfortunately, being developers requires knowledge of how to code and most of it is beyond my ability. I'd love to be involved in the development cycle if they had a special role for helping determine what route the server is going towards.
What was your favourite thing about being a reference? (On either server)
Opinion?
How did you first find Avicus? Overcast forums, heard that MCZone copied assets for the new site. Got hooked from that point.
What was your favourite thing about being a reference? (On either server) Oh, I'm just a reference now?At least I'm relevant and not forgotten anymore. ): Opinion? You're my favorite staff member, you're the best staff member in my opinion, and you're pretty high up there on my favorite people in general list. Score yourself an administrator rank and I'll be happier.

You're third paragraph really resonated with me. After being here for so long, and working so hard (on the Moderation team for me specifically)..it is very demotivating to see no progress being made.
So many talented people have put in so much work over the years and it feels like it's all in vain as this server keeps declining.
Also, you said somewhere in this thread that you feel you've made little real friendships with people..I just wanted to say that I've always considered you a friend :)

LOL oops I blame auto correct, that was suppose to be 'referee' instead of 'reference'.

Oh, being a referee! Well, I've only been ref on Stratus and OCN. Haven't experienced Stratus reffing yet but it's pretty exciting :) reffing on OCN was hard because I was always assigned to Spanish teams (each time!). I am convinced they thought I spoke Spanish, lol... but I made it work. Felt weird being the oldest ref on the team and everyone getting a promotion except me, I was skipped. Was devastated when I was demoted for missing the last tournament :(
What is your opinion on the current map development team? (This includes the builders...)
What is your opinion on the global team? (If you know anything about it...)
Since it seems to be customary, I'll also ask for opinions.
Team is in the best shape it's ever been in. I'm proud of what you've done to transform the team, because you were the last person I expected to turn it around honestly. Being a map developer has meaning and form to it now, and the only complaint I have is that we never do projects as a team except hubs. We need to make maps together, or discuss things over as a team, meetings are exceedingly rare and the progress could be much quicker with making custom gamemodes and such with what we have. If we met more, we'd have so much more success.
Wasn't aware a global team existed.
I got to know you more and I felt we connected better on a personal level once I had opened up a bit to you. I feel more comfortable around you and I have feelings that I didn't have previously, and I had misunderstood you for the most part. I'm sorry for anything mean I've said in the past.

Are you just a ref on Stratus or did you get one of those invites to join the Event Producer team too?
Would you move out of Virginia if you had the chance?
How do you feel about the direction Avicus is going advertisement-wise?
You're my favorite person to talk to on here, I trust you very much and you are one of the most loyal & dedicated people I've ever seen in my life.
I would move to Germany in a heartbeat, and I might be visiting there frequently (one of my friend's family I've known for 10 years will be moving there back and forth due to their husband's deployment) and I look forward to being there and learning more about the language, since Germans have always fascinated me.
I feel Avicus has not seized any of the opportunities given in order to grow. The advertisement is bare bones and even though we were told again recently that advertisement is real and will happen this time- there's nothing on here to advertise. We have the same exact games that we had before on MCZone, except less, and that's not going to attract players. They left for a reason. If we can't keep people interested, there's no point in advertising and I wish this resonated with the senior staff.
Stratus is hands down the best experience I've ever had with people, mapmaking, friendships, workload, organization, consistency, and everything I could really list off that I've had struggles with other servers with in the past. Stratus might not look that big on the surface, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. They're a fantastic community with a lot of talented individuals, and there's always something being developed.
This, of course, isn't meant to undermine Avicus, since Avicus has been the longest time I've been staff on a server, but maybe I'm biased towards Stratus because it's a fresh & unique experience. Avicus hasn't had that for a while but if we did then I'd play & work here a lot more.
A promotion for every month- getting junior, mod, & ref all within 3 months of each other. Wish you could've continued the rainbow and went all the way to the top. Never had any problem with you and I really liked how you worked with other staff.
You got me into mapmaking and I thank you for that. I've always looked up to you as someone I want to be. I know we haven't had an enormous amount of conversations, but the times we did I liked it.
Few questions: - What are your favorite maps you contributed to? - What is my worst map? - Honest opinion on me :3 - Fish?

Salzburg I & II are my favorites, spent a lot of time on them and they're very pretty. Captures the essence of what I wanted to.
The huge one with the monuments and stained glass like Alpha Complex was pretty confusing :( I got lost often.
Simply put, I love you and you're very entertaining. :)

No need to apologise. I was the one in the wrong most of the time, so I'm hardly in a position to judge. Honestly, I don't think either of us tried to work at our full potential, though I always respected you for being so outspoken.
Just so you know, you're not the only one who had issues with being prevented from fixing things. See you around. :)
