I really didn't want the mapdevs to change throwback maps until Atlas came out. Some of these edits have thousands of complaints... Asked the past few Dust Devil matches if they liked the edits and I've gotten not one yes but lots of nos. We still have throwback, it's just being ruined at this point. If it's poorly recieved, not sure why we've kept it. We even have departments in the mapdev team now to edit the throwback maps, which destroy their purpose.
Petition to get the head mapdevs to wait until Atlas? :c

I don't understand why Throwback maps are being edited anyway (aside from bug fixes) The whole point of Throwback is the nostalgia. These old maps should remain the exact same as when they were first released.

In my opinion.
Although some of these edits I do not necessarily agree with them - Quintus being an example - some of them are really needed.
Dust Devils' monument position is located inside an impractical and horrible position. You all have to agree on this, it's simply a horrible idea to have a monument located literally a few blocks behind spawn.
Inside any scenario when a map is first introduced, 99% of players would agree with me.
Ravanged's monument positions were also pretty bad and the game could either be incredibly rushed or incredibly stalemated. (That's why I've changed the position to be in the center of the lake and added more stuff to the map because to be honest... it was plain as hell)
You cannot base something solely on it being for nostalgia's sake... you do not like them because it's interfering with something you remember from years ago. That's pretty much all the players' complaints are.
I do have to admit that some of the throwback edits were unneeded though.

It's at the lake now?
You've seen Abandoned Park and Darkwater District, right? Maps with monuments above water are even more worse. Skybridge? No problem, jump right down. Waterfall? No problem, boat right up. Land? Tunnel right under it. The lake is the worst position for the map to have the monument at, maybe put it closer to spawn or something...

That's exactly the reason!
The majority of complaints are that it ruins what the maps used to be like.
They're called throwback maps for a reason, even if the maps have terrible monument placements, or are just fucking shit gameplay wise it doesn't matter because that's how it was back in the day, that's what made those maps iconic.
When I think of Dust Devils, I think of the shithouse monument placement and how it was so awesome to work together as a team to take down the horribly OP defence.
I didn't care that it was right next to spawn because on that specific map, that's what made it fun, iconic and nostalgic.
And a similar thing can be said about other throwback maps.

Well at least players will stop playing throwback if the maps are bad.
well i mean i have being playing for a year now i tb was great was the maps i really enjoy most the new ones are kinda trash , i used to enjoy them as it was the first time i play them maybe you can bring back some of them, in my case i don't see any fun playing quintus you can't def , can't kf can't make a super op bridge , well hope staff take the best decision for the server

Past few days I've seen DTM01 more active than usual and DTM02 came up with some players. Throwback is usually the first in line, but it's fallen off. May be because of the edits, they're just not as fun.

You misunderstand, I created an island in the center with a castle at the top. If you wanted to fall onto the monument directly all you'd land on are blocks.
Just take a look at it, I made sure that the lake acted like a moat instead of 99% of the monument's whole area.
Throwback will be remove, and old maps will be edited. I wish, today quintus isn't the final version (and Dust Devils, and Rend.) and it will look like new Luar or something.
Why dont you just remove all the tb maps and just have a week every month or 2 or 3 where there is the tb rot. This would make them more special to play and would take people away from the bad gameplay since theyre played less often
You'll find out about every change after MapDevs have finished working on them, I'll make a summary post.
No, the community should know the changed first and give opinions on the changed since they're the ones who play the maps. Not the other way around, until we finish all the edits..
All of these suggestions are being done for Atlas.
I have not heard anything at all about bringing back throwback, doing a special weekly rotation, or old quintus. That's all that's in this thread. Please update me.

Remove Dust Devils Entirely and, give 4 extra blocks of diamond to each team on Quintus and make the monuments closer to the iron, or just make an extra monument like Ternio. I think you'll have a lot less complaints after doing this c;.

Exactly what I said!
But according to Grape throwback will be terminated after Atlas.
