Avicus Pokémon Thread by Cytokinesis April 22, 2015 at 2:04 AM UTC

This is a thread for players of Pokemon XY and ORAS to discuss the game, exchange friend codes and trade.

I'll start off the discussion;
Which Eeveelution do you guys think is the best and why?

ProfessorUtonium April 22, 2015 at 2:04 AM UTC

Leafeon

sylveon is the cursed one

Cytokinesis April 22, 2015 at 2:04 AM UTC

Sylveon is cursed. But why leafeon? I'd say umbreon just because of personal preference of types and colour schemes.

Vaporeon

I'm just sentimentally attached to Vaporeon because I used it in LeafGreen, and it also makes for an amazing poke by itself, and it amazing HP and Special Attack/Special Defense stats

Too bad nobody uses it ;(

In ORAS, I soft-resetted for Shiny Reshiram + Zekrom.
Reshiram took me 650 soft resets (ish)...
Zekrom took me 1200 soft resets (damn you, Zekrom. Never used you anyways)...

The Reshiram has decent stats, but the Zekrom... .-.
The Zekrom's not even for me though ;d

i can also rek michael in showdown

I almost lost it at Zekrom. The only reason I soft-resetted for Shiny Reshiram/Zekrom is because that was the only way to get these two legendaries shiny legitimately.

but.. 3483 soft resets... holy shit

but

this sexy blue beast though

Try playing on play.pokemonshowdown.com. It's a simulator where you don't actually have to train up your Pokemon (you just generate and build the team). It uses almost the exact same aesthetics as a regular online battle in ORAS/XY.

trading shiny Keceleon/Basculin/Crawdaunt for shinies

MidnightBeats April 22, 2015 at 6:04 PM UTC

Putting competitive play aside, what's the team you use in-game? Mine constantly switches but here's my solid, never changing one.

Empoleon
Dragonite
Roserade
Gallade (optional Mega)
Metagross (optional Mega)
Typhlosion

Nothing much you have to know about the ORAS meta except that Lando-I has literally no switch ins bar Blissey/Chansey which can be dealt with easily with the other 5 members you have.

I don't have one either. However I've 3 different DSs, each I use for trading/farming in each game. I got a Spiritomb in Platinum because I logged on my Pearl game and just kept capturing my own flag. Also, my Pearl game was a previously owned game in which the first owner had about 200 PalPark events. So then I obtained Pokemon in Platinum that I wouldn't otherwise get without a code or an original Gen 2(?) game.

Nebbsy April 23, 2015 at 9:04 PM UTC

My soft spot for a Pokemon is my manaphy... I actually had 3 lv 100 manaphys 2 shiny one not. + 3 level 30 manaphys! (Yes my friend cheated for all but the lv 100 in shiny one :^D)

i dont know why I have a soft spot for him.. He's water my life is in the water.. My parents got me a mini plush of him.. Always by my side.. Bit embarrassing but even when I have like a huge presentation at school. I secretly bring him along .-  this forum is the first time I e ever said that. And he's just so darn cute :3

Interesting. My favorite game, personally, is Platinum, so here's my team in that game, since they're statistically the best out of all my games.

My question is: are you for or against the usage of action replays in order to get pokémon to gain levels?

SavageAmericans April 24, 2015 at 12:04 AM UTC

The older pokemon games are much better than some of the newer ones.
The older pokemon games you actually had to try to train your pokemon, the new ones you only have to battle trainers to win.

The newer games are way too easy. EXP. share needs to be desperately nerfed.

Games like Pokemon Platinum are those hard-ass games where you actually have to try. I went up against the Pokemon League and lost, and ever since then I've been binge-training...

And I liked the idea of "Challenge Mode" in Pokemon White 2, it actually made the game fun.

Shoto_ April 24, 2015 at 2:04 AM UTC

I don't play competitively, I want to but it's confusing for me. :p

Best Eeveelution for me is probably Jolteon.

Playing competitively is fun but it's full of assholes who take the game too seriously.

this explains the people i've met who play competitively in a nutshell:

Why would you not take competitive seriously when it's literally called competitive? That image doesn't show anything other than someone just thinking about the plays they make - which is done in literally a few seconds if you're good at competitive. If they find it fun, I don't see what right you have to call us assholes.

There's something called being over-competitive, to the point where your mistakes become their entertainment, and your success become their demise. Obviously, being a competitive player myself, I know that I have to take it seriously, which I do, but some people just step over that fine line between competitive and over-competitive.

Also, when I say assholes, I hope you realize that it only applies to a select few...

sorry for for the confusion lol

EXP Share is so overpowered that I get so overleveled when going against gyms and the E4

I would just go for the safe Scald, and I used to be like that... just saying..

Da_Baus April 24, 2015 at 12:04 PM UTC

My Pokemon X team was alright

Xerneas (shiny)
Charizard (shiny)
Mewtwo (shiny)
Zekrom mixed with kyurem
Reshiram
Gengar (shiny)

:P

Same, I used to be that way as well

And scald is a good option, even if the opponent switches in, since there's the 30% burn chance.

OriginaI April 25, 2015 at 1:04 AM UTC

I have like 20 shiny legendary Pokemon on x/y "legit"

Glitchaye April 25, 2015 at 1:04 AM UTC
