r9 280 will most likely be bottlenecked by the cpu

Nope.

I second this. I'd like to know what games you plan on running before we give you some suggestions :)

Disagree:

CPU: Intel i3 4330 3.5GHz   $127
Locked processor, so overclocking is probably not your choice here, but TBH you DON'T need to overclock it, I mean it can handle BF4 Fine, without bottlenecking even the most powerful cards (The 970, or even the 980).

Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150  $42
Just because it supports 16GB of ram, doesn't mean its bad... It just lacks a few features...

RAM: 8GB DDR-3 1600 G.Skill X Series RAM $68
Really solid ram, I don't think you'll need more, 8GB of RAM is enough for gaming in this generation.

Storage:
WD 1TB Caviar blue HDD $45
1TB to start you off, then you can go ahead and upgrade to an SSD and HDD

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2B GDDR-5 FTW Edition  $130
MONSTER GPU, Basically DESTROYING the R9 280, and maybe the 280X with the core clock speed of 1.19GHz, can be overclocked if I remember about 150MHz. You got yourself a monster of a GPU for only 130$

Case: Thermaltake VL80001W2Z ATX Mid Tower Case $22
Idk, I've seen this case be recommended a BILLION times, and seeing it, it actually looks decent, even tho there is no USB 3.0, But I dont think you will use them xD

PSU: Corsair CX 500W 80+Broze Power Supply Unit. $55
Corsair one of the best, no doubt...

Go away, you know nothing about computing.

MAX settings 1440p WITH SHADERS at 60+ fps on minecraft
Lmao

The 750 ti is not stronger than the 280. Just because it got a higher clockspeed doesn't mean it is faster.
Your setup is good if you are going to play minecraft with alot of mods, but if you are going to play other games I would swapp that 8gb ram for a better grafikscard.

A 260X marginally beats a 750ti. A 280/X is above and beyond a 750ti.

What specific games are you going to be playing, what resolution, what graphics settings. Any preferred size?

_Phyre March 14, 2015 at 9:03 PM UTC

Just in case you didn't notice, its the FTW edition, I looked at some benchmarks and the 750Ti FTW is barely better than the 750, not to mention its cooler than AMD's crappy stock coolers.

ViolentBoo March 15, 2015 at 1:03 AM UTC

Budget graphics cards, go for amd, for very expensive ones, go Nvidia. That's how I usually go.

He doesn't have to do what you tell him to do lol. And btw when I use sharers almost maxed and i get 45fps. No doubt the 280 will beat it. Not to mention it's a 3gb frame buffer so it can handle a higher resolution and higher resolution textures.
