When I lock or archive comments and threads, it's because they're in breach of the rules.
If it was actually personal I wouldn't do anything but I'm a mod so I have to.

We archive spam and off topic comments.
Also, if a current situation doesn't directly involve you, then you don't need to know about the situation. Only the person involved and the staff member should know about the situation, generally.
