Good for the U.S.! Obama finally kept one of his promises when he became president xd.
Now lets hope no jokes like "the 50 states of gay" appear.
I like gay people, they are nice :)

I always notice that the South is always the most stupid and bigotted out of the big 50...

Nothing good comes from living there :T

False
I don't live there, but have visited a lot.

From what I see the people aren't racist at all (most(dylan roof fuck you)).

They're friendly and love football.
But I do agree, there are a lot of chubby and hillbillies there.

And they love football

Javipepe June 27, 2015 at 11:06 PM UTC

Can't believe it took so long. I'm really happy for homosexual individuals :)

I live in Atlanta.

Most of the cities are alright and Atlanta tends to be more liberal and modern, however the rural "redneck" south tends to be more racist. Most Southern people however are very warm and kind, as it is a society based off of manners and order.

I like it here, but I'd much rather live somewhere else, the culture isn't my thing.

I meant the states that actually are still doing the stupid laws. I'm looking at you Indiana *Glares*

Honestly, I don't see why gay marriage should even be an issue. Love is love and you can't change that.
Anyway, good job on Obama's and the US Supreme Court's part for making it legal.

AstroPizza June 28, 2015 at 5:06 AM UTC

Glad to see it's finally happened.
I myself live in the gay capital of the Uk , being Brighton ,  for the last 13 years of my life i've seen lgbt everywhere
and it's a great city , if anything lgbt people are more friendly :D
Even though i must say progress is still slow England only made it legal last year. Also out of all 196 countries in the world only 20 have now made it fully legal across the country.

JJTheGuy June 28, 2015 at 5:06 AM UTC

I was on vacation in D.C. when the law was passed, and in the past two days, this has happened:

1. Saw a guy get on one knee, propose to another guy, and then kiss.
2. My cousin came out.
3. Heard angry people riot and chant mean things. :c

RIP_Avicus June 28, 2015 at 7:06 AM UTC

I really don't see the reasoning for hating gay people. These 'riots' seem petty and small from the homophobes who are doing them. Someone needs to go there and stop them. Anyway, thanks Obama!! (not that I live in the US, but it could start to pressurise other countries into making it legal).

We'll get their eventually :P
Tbh, we might get there at the end of the year. We don't like being behind other countries all that much.

So yeah, I'm in the lgbt+ community and I didn't see this coming. I'm very happy that same-sex couples finally have the same rights as straight couples. I was ecstatic about the news, but some of my conservative friends and family were obviously not (I blame Florida). So this is a great day in history, but we still have a lot more to do. It's all about the little steps. (:

Since I am Catholic, I can't really say this made me happy. Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with LGBT societies/individuals and I think they are wonderful people... but to me, same sex marriage ruins the reproductive cycle in the sense that this encourages LGBT practises. My reason may sounds idiotic and ignorant, and go ahead and insult me on thst behalf :P

I respect your opinion but I disagree.

I am also catholic and it doesn't have to mean that you are against gay marriage. Jesus never said gay marriage is bad or so. Also gay people are not going to marry someone of the opposite gender cause they will never be able to love them. So either  there are bunch of single who are not going to marry someone of the opposite gender or there are alot of pairs who truly love each other but are also not able to get a baby. So it doesn't matter really

I am on the same boat as you, I don't hate Gay people, they are nice people, it is just in my belief that marriage is woman-man not man-Man or woman-woman, but it's not like I hold it against them or anything, I just believe it isn't the right thing

then what is the right thing if it isn't love ?

Marriage was meant for women and man, hence how they can reproduce.
But I don't judge

Marriage was never really meant for humans anyway, only woman and man were meant to reproduce but gay couples can't reproduce anyway

I guess you could say sex whether in religion/evolution was meant for a man a women...
One can reproduce and is fun
The other is very unpleasant and reproduction does not occur.

how do you know that sex bewtween a gay couple is unpleseant ? Men also got a G- point like woman which is reached when two people have sex. Lesbians are kind of the same. There are alot of ways to also stimulate a woman without using a penis

It isn't your ass which is shredded m8. and for those who are gay it probably is. It's also not the only way.

Hold on, homosexual couples aren't the only ones who practice, excuse my vulgarity, anal sex. Both heterosexual and homosexual couples are known to practice it, so it is nothing exclusive to a specific side/party.

I was very happy when I heard the news, however my entire Twitter timeline was not. I live in Texas, and there are a lot of very religious people here. A lot of people were hating on some friends that I have for being gay, which I see to be very unnecessary. I am a religious person as well, however I haven't been to church in over a year. I even saw a tweet saying that "6/26 is our new 9/11", which I found to be absolutely disgusting, since that day was a very happy day for all the lgbt community while 9/11 was a terrorist attack that cost thousands of lives. I respect others opinions, but I don't see it necessary to pick on the lgbt community. Anyways, at least our country has done something I agree with(:

SirCyaniide June 28, 2015 at 3:06 PM UTC

I was raised in a house where change is good, but also hard to adjust to. In my opinion stuff can come in many shapes and sizes. For example, there are different types of energy, and different types of cultures.

Some of us accepted the nature of drug use, drinking, prostitution, murder etc... And I'm NOT saying that we allow this here and don't try to prevent them.

But what I don't understand is, why some people can't accept the fact that love can come in many colors.

Now I do understand that religion, and some of our societies beliefs prevent us from seeing what others do. And again I'm NOT trying to rewrite religion nor am I trying to change the rules, and I completely understand that your religion/family/rules come first.

This person (Unknown) said this and I quote

"We all bleed red, all taste rain, all fall down, lose our way,

We all say words we regret, we all cry tears we all bleed red,
Sometimes we’re strong, sometimes we’re weak; sometimes we’re hurt
It cuts deep; we live this life breath to breath; we’re all the same
WE ALL BLEED RED"

This is just MY OPINION, and honestly I'm happy that men and women can express their love here in America.

I'm a catholic too, But I don't see the point of having people hating on love, because it's just love. In my opinion, A woman that loves a man is the same to a woman that loves a woman or a man that loves a man. People can't just fight against love, as you well said before, because, in the end, if you love someone truly, no-one can stop you. I also want to point out that i'm really pissed off with Twitt's like 6/26 is the new 9/11, As Refuse said before. People are always saying that differences between Men and Woman has ended, that we're living on the 21st Century, and the difference between sexes, In all ways, is better nowadays. To me, This seems similar to the racial problems today, because not letting 2 people that love each other is a bit of downgrading those people, as it used to happen with Slaves on earlier centuries.

I'd like to point out that we are all the same in the end, we mite look different, sound different, smell different, but in the end we are all humans, and we should all be treated the same way. You just can't treat better someone that is rich to someone that is poor just because of the money, and the same thing happens with this.

Obama said that it was a really good improvement to the U.S, which really is, it's just that the people that downgrade homosexual couples just because they love someone of the same sex, shouldn't live. That's all I have got to say about that.

The point is that people say that slavity and downgrading of people is now finished, but it clearly isn't. Just with one comment of one person saying that homosexual couples should die or shouldn't be allowed, should go to hell.

I don't get when people use the reproduction excuse with marriage. There is 7 billion humans in this world and a lot of them are annoying af

RIP_Avicus June 28, 2015 at 7:06 PM UTC

Where do I start....
These people are no different to you and me, they are average human beings who have opinions, friends and family. The one thing that is different is that they love different people. Why the hell should that matter? People discriminate against these people when they walk freely around the face of the Earth like you, me and all of the supporters and haters.
Plus, don't even get started on how they can't reproduce, around 7,120,000,000 people live on the Earth. This number is increasing rapidly, it's not like we as human beings are endangered, so why should some people not wanting to produce children be any problem? Straight married couples can marry and never have kids and have no grief over it whatsoever.
Some citizens of America, the land of freedom and opportunity, are now becoming as bad as those of North Korea, who have the strictest censorship in the world.
Saying that some people can't have happy lives because you don't like it is bullshit. It intrudes on their personal rights and can make the people sad for the rest of their lives.
Also, don't start saying that you don't like the way that these people reproduce, because no-one is forcing you to do it or even to watch it, but you are forcing them to stop? Bullshit.
For now, I will not go into the biblical aspects, I personally, do not believe in any kind of a God, but I have a feeling that this is not the place to post my beliefs.
So stop intruding on these people's rights, if you don't like it, go to somewhere where you won't see a happy couple walking down the street together, like millions are across the world.

Those are great points, I hope they weren't towards anyone here because no one here intruded on their rights.

Well if I started expressing my opinions on this topic I might end up forum banned. :/ Some people find this stuff offensive, like me.

The coincidental part is: I was in Washington D.C. when they passed that law. It was ALL over the news in my hotel.

I wouldn't worry about getting forum banned if I were you.

I can assure you that you're not the only one who has that opinion.

I'm with you.

Just with one comment of one person saying that homosexual couples should die or shouldn't be allowed, should go to hell.

http://www.tfpstudentaction.org/politically-incorrect/homosexuality/10-reasons-why-homosexual-marria...

Yea, TFP...
I dont mean to start a flame war or some shit but... "Just with one comment of one person saying that homosexual couples should die or shouldn't be allowed, should go to hell."

Now, Im not a religious person of any matter, and I had to look this up on wikipedia because I cant be bothered to actually READ the bible. But this quote is from the bible.

"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death"

So, what you said above implying that people that think that homosexual couples shouldn't be allowed and then saying for those saying those things for them to go to hell, wouldn't the quote I took from the bible be a good counter-argument to your point? Because as far as Im aware, the idea of a "hell" is a christian idea and term. So it seems counter-intuitive to say that something that is said many times in the bible that it's NOT allowed is ok, then say that the people which follow the bible by what it says for them to go to hell for following what the bible says?

But lets be honest here, not stirring up any drama. What happened was unconstitutional,The Supreme court cant make laws their there to interpret them, and that makes twice this week they've stepped out of line.I say let gays do what ever they want, but state can't be forced to accept laws from the supreme court.

Nothing good comes from living there :T
It's only bigotted and stupid because we have an extreme amount of religtards. Georgia is flooded with them.

Ironicy, referring to someone as a "religtard" would be a form of bigotry.

I agree with you up to a point.

But as I said before, I don't agree with that.

Sho June 29, 2015 at 2:06 AM UTC

This whole argument of
"Protect our religious freedom don't allow same sex marriage!!111"
is plain stupid. Your "freedom" is depriving other individuals of their "freedom" to get married. A lot of people don't know marriage carries much more responsibilities / privileges then it sounds. Here's a list. (Taken from wiki)

I've lost my faith in Christianity...

ProfessorUtonium June 29, 2015 at 3:06 AM UTC

It's how the person wants to live and be happy.

the Declaration of Independence says that  people should have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is a fair thing to do since people want to be happy and being Gay is a life choice they like and they want to be happy about. The Bill of rights has an amendment for having whatever religion we want to follow. Some of us are not Christians. We can be whatever religion we want to be. You can't force us to follow Christianity and stay pure like what America was some hundred years ago. We can choose now. You know that right? Or are you stuck in the 17 hundreds?

Yeah, thats the hypocricy that many "True Americans" exhibit. Politcians and conservatives.

If we have more liberals like Obama then the country will get better. Many problems were started by hateful bigotted Conservatives.

Since Obama is such a great president

Howsie July 1, 2015 at 5:07 AM UTC

Not with our current PM.
Haha yeah I suppose. But after Ireland and the US surely parliament would at least consider it in the next few months?  I bet it will be put to a vote at least. How cool would it be if there were a referendum for it as well. Would sure what kind of people Australia really has anyways.

Puysegur July 1, 2015 at 6:07 AM UTC

I got a headache from reading through this. Let me just say that I live in New Zealand, and I'm gay. New Zealand has had gay marriage for a while now and we are doing just fine. I'm sure your precious 'Murica will survive too

He may have moments, but he is definitely better than most of the previous presidents we had. Aside from Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, etc.
