PC builds/specs by CraftingTheory May 23, 2017 at 4:05 PM UTC

Hi all, just wondering what set ups all of you have. There's probably another post like this, but I imagine people's PCs have changed since then, plus we have some new people on the server, so no need to resurrect dead threads.

I'll make a template to answer so it's easier for you all :D you can add cosmetic items such as cases as well, do so after the components!

PC PART LIST:
CPU:
Graphics Card:
Motherboard:
RAM (include speed if known):
SSD:
HDD:
Water cooled/Fan cooled?:
Estimate of PC cost:
Anything else!:

My own PC specs:
CPU: AMD FX4350 4.2GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 750Ti
Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LX3 (some randy one, not too bad)
RAM (include speed if known): 8GB 1600 MHz
SSD: SanDisk Ultra II 480GB
HDD: Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB 7200RPM
Water cooled/Fan cooled?: Fan cooled
Estimate of PC cost: £400 (original) + £200 (upgrades) = ~£600
Anything else!: Dual band WiFi card (though I currently use LAN wired connection)

Might get a new motherboard/case/CPU for Christmas, though for now it's good enough to play avi!

Save up, building it yourself is cheaper- get a good motherboard and a good intel cpu with onboard graphics (the HD graphics kinda stuff) then you can save up for good graphics card, SSD, etc- add as you go :)

Thinking about going Dual CPU but would need to change a lot of parts like PSU, RAM and an extra Cooler

Its not that easy to save money here xd.

You'd need a new motherboard too, I don't think you can go dual CPU without a server-type setup (which aren't the best for gaming). You could probably do dual graphics cards, that would definitely give a performance boost, but dual processors isn't very feasible atm (a quad-core processor is actually 4 processors in one, so just get a CPU with more cores) as most programs can barely use 4 cores properly.

The program I need it for can use unlimited cores, and I can get a pretty good deal on two xeon E5 2658 v3. It's not ment for gaming and my fps will drop but don't really care

Don't know really. I used to use a better one... but it's just as old. I just know it can at least get that 40-100 fps cause of the graphics card.

Since it was my own build, it didn't come with all that extra junk that is pre-installed, so that helped. Other than that I mainly have Minecraft and CS:GO on there, but I only have like 7 GB left on my hard drive xD.

My FPS is at least 60 with optifine, but maybe more on normal settings.

You could probably put a cheap graphics card in there and get a big performance boost!

I'd recommend getting a GTX 1050Ti (around £120) but if that's too much a GTX 750Ti (quite old, I have one myself but it's still supported - around £80 ish) or a GT 710 (£20, still better than hd graphics tho).

Even if you're getting a new PC soon, you can just take the graphics card out and stick it in your new one :D

980 sc is a beast, 1080 is a god that not many people need. Plus jump from 980 to 1080 isn't massive, 1080 Ti maybe, but 980 will last you years to come

Def get better ram tho, 8gb is fine but might be bottlenecking it, could get a higher speed too!
