So, I just downgraded from 1.8 to 1.7.2 and I was wondering if you got an FPS boost on 1.8 from switching from Java 32 bit to Java 64 bit, would I get an FPS boost on 1.7.2 if I switched from Java 32 bit to Java 64 bit?
Mojang/Minecraft confirmed that if you use the 64bit version of java for minecraft 1.8 you get a fps boost, but for a maximal boost you have to turn Vbos on. I believe for any versions under 1.8, so 1.7.9, 1.7.2, etc. it doesn't matter if you use 32bit or 64bit java.

ok.. so no java at all will increase my fps? I just want good FPS, my PC is awful. ;-;
I'm pretty sure that you can uninstall Java on your computer entirely if you only Java for Minecraft. It chooses the version that you need automagically. :D
