any way to view friends online?

First, you need to add them as a friend in the forums. For that, simply click on the players name and click "Add friend"

Next time you log on, you should be able to do /friends, which is currently broken atm :P. 
But, when it's fixed, you can do /friends and it will show you all your friends that are online and what server they are currently on.
