First of all. You do not do this... Never.
Its makes it easier for the other team, they can easily block themselves with wood and break it while you try to find them like a "needle in a hay stack".
Here's some defense strategies to help you.
Pressure Plates/Slabs
Use these items to prevent block spam. Here's an example.
Table Walls (With levers/buttons)
This can help a lot when the player trying to rush in doesn't have an axe :D. Here's an example.
Table Stream
Its a good defense if you want to hold rushing players back for a bit. Here's an example.
Watered Monument
Self explanatory. Water the monument! It makes it more difficult for the other team to break it since the water is constantly drafting them away. Here's an example.

Doesn't go into detail about any of the defences. All the defences are really basic and it doesn't show any good defences in action.Very short and basic, doesn't really deserve a sticky if it was to be given one. :L
