K/D: Does it really mean anything? by Stimulating September 6, 2014 at 9:09 PM UTC

Imo, no. K/D doesn't show that there was an entire team of knights on the other team in CTH or that you were rushing in Nebula. You could just kill farm and pull a great K/D out, you could rush a lot and have a terrible K/D or be a good PvPer who doesn't have good kits yet. So my question to you is do you think it counts or do you think the opposite? I respect everyone's views so feel free to share.

I don't care about K/D anymore. I already know that I can kill you easily :P

Wow rude

FirstSintax September 6, 2014 at 9:09 PM UTC

Even if you rush, there isnt a good exuse to have your kd lower than 1.

Kd is important when a clan wants to evaluate your pvp skills. (they can't always scrim)

There is a good excuse for rushers with a low KD. As a rusher, I tend to get targeted by various people pretty often, and that causes most of my deaths. Also, rushers are the ones who usually fight people in heavier armor than themselves, since most defenders would be in full iron/diamond armor. If you had to fight full diamond guys every day while you have no armor, then of course you might have a low KD.

im a rusher and i have an average kd

But you don't have as many monuments

ShiptheBattle September 6, 2014 at 9:09 PM UTC

Yea No.
It doesn't matter.

BoldAndBrash September 6, 2014 at 10:09 PM UTC

One of my pet peees is Teams asking for your kd...WHY the heck does it matter?! KD doesnt shoe skill at all. At all. Clans shouldnt be judging by stats either.

If they can't scrim, what can they judge from?

BoldAndBrash September 6, 2014 at 10:09 PM UTC

I never said dont scrim. I believe teams should just spectate the player :L

MLGtino September 6, 2014 at 10:09 PM UTC

MLG_Jirafa September 6, 2014 at 10:09 PM UTC

Look at the KDR of Cratain in OCN, he's one of the best leaders of all the teams

IviFetita September 6, 2014 at 10:09 PM UTC

I just realy... I don't matter about K/D. Only take a look in my stats, I have 0.8  Kill/Death and 0.9 PvP Kill/Death. Why is so important the K/D?

SergeantBoom September 6, 2014 at 11:09 PM UTC

What are you guys talking about clans and scrim never heard of any of that stuff before...

JOHN_CENAAAAAAAA September 6, 2014 at 11:09 PM UTC

Your K/D is a good way of showing how bad you were when you first logged on to the server and couldn't PvP to save your life.

MENGA September 6, 2014 at 11:09 PM UTC

In this month I started rushing to elevate my broken monuments, so my K/D starts falling, IDK :)

Zintenka September 6, 2014 at 11:09 PM UTC

Wow rude
Its not rude. I wasnt addressing him, i said "you" as in all players. Besides, it was with good intentions

The ":P" face was playful. Know your emotes.

Rude -_-. You probably haven't even seen me play well before. I'm not saying you're not good or anything like that. I'm just saying don't make assumptions that quick in general.

EDIT: I saw second comment D:

haven't played since I posted this. Don't make me rethink my comebacks (if you remember ;) ). About to get on though.

Don't make me rek you again Tino ;)

lmao. I used to only rush so that's why i'm pretty low on top of having all the Knights in CTH when the best melee kit i have is Viper...

D00ZiE September 7, 2014 at 12:09 AM UTC

I used to rush A LOT and I have a KD over 3.0 :P

sfkwww September 7, 2014 at 1:09 AM UTC

@D00ZiE yea but you kill farm allot, and that must have been a while ago cause you haven't gotten many monuments in the last few months

Eklip_Z September 7, 2014 at 1:09 AM UTC

I don't think much of K/D, I actually think clans should come up with new ways to determine whether a player is good enough to join, like set up a small server and get them to fight someone to see how they go or just watch them in a Avicus game.

It was quite a long time ago, I'm just saying that it is possible to balance rushing and killing to maintain a decent K/D.

Shadowbladz September 7, 2014 at 2:09 AM UTC

Of course!

It's a good indicator of play style

MissCarmel September 7, 2014 at 3:09 AM UTC

You can be a good rusher and still have a good KD ._. I know my KD sucks but I honestly don't care after it dropped from 2

chaibrit1 September 7, 2014 at 4:09 AM UTC

avicus was like the first server i ever went on and i was self taught for pvp so that's why my k/d sucks c:

PieZ September 7, 2014 at 4:09 AM UTC

Having someone like Cratain who I look up to a lot taught me that you can have a shit kd but you can be a monster in the game

OPTOBAT September 7, 2014 at 4:09 AM UTC

i think K/D is actually a good thing, it keeps people interested and motivated to do well, and adds a little intensity to the game :D
+1 for K/D

cinammoncroc000 September 7, 2014 at 6:09 AM UTC

Keeping up my KD motivates me to do better, but I don't try-hard to raise it up xD
Usually it really doesn't matter, a lot of good players have lower K/Ds but the community knows that they're great.

Y0urm0m1 September 7, 2014 at 7:09 AM UTC

ok. KD is good and bad IMO

It is good because it keeps oyu motivated to do better.

IT is bad because it isn;t a factor to judge people off of their "pro ness in pvp" Like seriously. A guy with diamond armor on Qunintus could easily rack up a lot of kills and say to be "good at pvp" Like wut .-. And someone could just build a huge scatter cannon and can just kill farm all day.

Take Cratain for example. If you see his OCN profile, he has a really bad KD. Some people think of him as a bad pvper but he is actually very good. This is why  KD is a bad way of judging people off

RCMP_Mountie September 7, 2014 at 7:09 AM UTC

A KDR is just a few numbers on your profile that most people who don't know you judge by. Personally, I am not the greatest in PvP, yet I still have a KDR of 3.9 mainly because block hitting and crits are OP in tunnels, and I'd like to reach prestige 5 so I just kill people (and killfarm occasionally), and still my K/D still sits at 3.9 ._.

Robin_DD_J September 7, 2014 at 7:09 AM UTC

It's doesn't matter, but it can be a fun challange for people like me having a great KD.

kycrafft September 7, 2014 at 2:09 PM UTC

Eh... I'm ok damn my k/d is shit

Never noticed that.

Wow.

Myv September 7, 2014 at 6:09 PM UTC

I don't rush much, unless I'm with others. I tend to defend - so I don't get many kills - but because I use a touchpad, when it comes to PvP I generally lose. So therefore I don't care anymore because I have a bad K/D, but some people do, and others don't.

S3M3L September 7, 2014 at 6:09 PM UTC

When I played, I had a goal to become one of the very best at least on Avicus, at my best my K/D was over 15+. You do get motivated and feel you achieve something when you are able to prove yourself, even though it's just a game. I acknowledged you do get targeted if your K/D is better than most of the players on Avicus, I even was told "I will decrease your k/d" and "I target you just because of your k/d" many many times.

LeCobalt September 7, 2014 at 6:09 PM UTC

K/D basically represents if you are a combat logger :D

It's just idk whether it really represents the skill of the given individual or not, and gl with life man, enjoy it and make the most out of it!

We all do play (or played) for different reasons, you maybe play for the rushing-aspect and I played for the pvp-aspect and I do think the stats and K/D says much about how good or bad we actually are. If you rush you will have more deaths than kills and a low K/D, and different way around, if you only pvp or combine pvp with rushing you might be able to get good stats and higher K/D. I don't think you should look down on yourself, if you really think you are good, prove yourself, I'm pretty sure I'll look forward to it! :)

PieZ September 7, 2014 at 7:09 PM UTC

Someone that has 0.3 kd can kill me so kd doesn't really stand anything for actual skill

TheTNTPotato September 7, 2014 at 7:09 PM UTC

Depends on your playstyle. In general, it does not, because some players are decent and have (example) a 0.3, or 05 KD, while others are terrible, yet have a 3.0 KD (ahem, me), due to either OP kits, or Combat logging. However, it can be a decent indicator, depending on what the player in mind actually does ingame. If 2 people do the exact same thing, you can identify who does it better, simply by looking at their KDs.. Sometimes.

FirstSintax September 7, 2014 at 9:09 PM UTC

This is true. why not spectate or have them look at footage of yourself that you recorded?
The hassle.

Why not spectate? you can't say for sure when people will be on.

footage? 50% cant record without lag (maybe 65%)

Pigbeard_Pete September 7, 2014 at 9:09 PM UTC

No, it doesn't really, but it is good to keep a moderately high one in case teams want u. a 1-1.5 is a solid K/D.

Westby September 7, 2014 at 9:09 PM UTC

Guess so but I'm not really popular enough yet to get into the team yet ;)

ayy September 8, 2014 at 12:09 PM UTC

Although it doesn't matter, it does mean something. You can't have a 20K/D and be bad, although you can have a 0.5K/D And still be good.

Exotic September 8, 2014 at 6:09 PM UTC

I think a skilled Pvper that Rushes with ought dying and having at least 2 KD is good. Someone who rushes and has bad KD means they only good at getting the monument. When it comes to 1v1 I thing the KD person would win. But you should look at the Pvp KD, because falling out of the world really does not count as a pvp death. :D

Couldn't say it better myself.

goldenwalrus909 September 8, 2014 at 7:09 PM UTC

Nah, KDs just ruin your fun. Instead of plowing into a group of enemies, by yourself, and seeing how many you can kill before you die, you'd more likely be smart and quite boring, in my opinion, and retreat. You just spend so much time worrying about a number on a video game, you don't really get the full enjoyment of it :c
