Regarding Death Threats/Suicide Encouragement

Hello,
Recently, an immense amount of community members have been attempting to bypass our death threat rule by saying "kill yourselfie." This is honestly disappointing behavior that will not be tolerated. Staff members will continue to punish as usual with no exceptions to this rule. A one-week grace period will be in place where staff members should issue a warn before any punishment regarding these matters, but after it passes, immediate punishments will be given. Thanks.
Guys for real? You can't make an official post without referencing things for people who havent seen it. Also, isnt this just a reference to Life is Strange?

Howsie please. There is legitimately no reason to complain this time.
Um where have people been saying this? I haven't seen it being used at all yet..
A few users have been caught saying such things, I do not want to breach their confidentiality. However, they said the exact same thing as quoted in this post. They have received a punishment, and henceforth, we are addressing this issue.
You realize you're arguing over something that's meant to HELP you, yet you're arguing if you've seen this or not. They wouldn't be saying this just for fun.
I'm not one to sit there and be told that something is without a justification. I'm not trying to start an argument, you lot rebut what I say with an argument rather than just answering my queries.

Bro, "A few users have been caught saying such things, I do not want to breach their confidentiality. However, they said the exact same thing as quoted in this post. They have received a punishment, and henceforth, we are addressing this issue." Also why does this even need justification. We are literally telling people not to death threat others. We are not rebutting you as there isn't a really valid argument.

A few users = isolated incidents
People hack all the time. Why don't you put up a post regarding that? My criticism revolves around the fact that you don't need to post things that are stated somewhere else. Its annoying.

Alright, however, as a final argument. You cannot get out of hacking, there is no way to talk your way out of it. Alas, with this people were trying to argue their way out. Hence, we are clarifying the issue. :P

Right, cool. Just don't make it an issue for people who weren't involved. Like everyone on the forums who had no idea about this.
Apart from that, anyone else think its a reference to Life is Strange? Great game. Worth a look if you want to cry your eyes out for twenty hours straight.
Well, I thought it was going to be smooth sailing for a while, but NOPE. And to those people who have said something like this, I have a quote from a previous Avicus thread pertaining to the same issue addressed here: "Did you maybe ever think for a slight second that this person might actually do it? How would you live with yourself afterwards?" -FrozenSolstice, I believe. And yes I know the quote is kinda cliche, but I know at least I would feel no emotion but guilt if I ever knew that I was the cause of a suicide.
If it's because you're having a bad day ingame or just a bad day in general, and are just purely annoyed at the game/life/whatever, let your frustration out in ways other than telling people to kill themselves.
Also, please don't start a flame war on this thread...it hasn't happened yet, but I have a bad feeling that one's going to erupt soon due to the nature of it...

They make post to inform the community about stuff and its much better than the times admins didnt do that. If these posts annoy you just dont read them lol simple as

We're not accusing every single player of using it in that manner, but it will be used by some to bypass the rule indefinitely. Even a server like Kohi, with the most toxic chat out of any MC I've seen does not tolerate suicide encouragement and does not put up with bypasses, loopholes and technicalities. The whole point of this is to make it public the loophole is shutting and we're putting our foot down as a staff team, which is a step in the right direction if you ask me, since the whole loophole game has gone on far too long.
As someone who once knew a victim of cyber bullying, all I ask is that you respect these boundaries. I know you may think playfully bypassing the rules is harmless and isn't going to affect anyone, but trust me, it takes a huge fucking impact on some people. You don't know what they're going through. A simple trigger is all it takes.
In memory & honour of my friend and all those out there who have been victims of it, please, just don't do it. It's not hard. If being a troll over such a matter is something you can't resist then I think you need a bit of help.
This is a minecraft server not a school. If you believe everything you see on the internet (as in suggestions to "kill yourself") you shouldn't be on the internet.

Lmao, do you honestly think people are going to listen to that?
I think a community gets it when someone says something like this, to know that they are joking. No one will actually do it, nor will avicus be held responsible if it happens, which again it won't happen. If you don't like what I say please ignore this post.
Staff will have to know the difference between rage and actually telling them to kill themselves.
I'm pretty sure that distinguishing between rage and "actually telling them" is not needed, as they both have malicious intent, whether temporary or permanent.

Some are just being rash due to rage and just throw out whatever they want to say even if they don't mean it.

Doesn't matter, consequences should be the same. If I told you to kill yourself, or in this case, "kill your selfie" would you care to notice if I said this due to rage or if I wanted to say it because I felt like it? Does it change the outcome either way?

Tbh I wouldn't care if someone told me to kill myself.
In my opinion it is common sense that you would not say something like that. Also, it's on the rules page, and that is the warning.
Some people aren't as easily affected by comments like that, and most of the people who tell others to kill themselves don't have an ounce of common sense in them anyways
You think everyone would read the rules page? You think everyone would read this thread? You can't assume that they've read them.
By playing on the Avicus Network, you agree to follow all of the rules. If you don't read the rules and end up breaking them, then that's on you. Not the staff team.

You're right, people shouldn't really care. But others are affected, and don't know when to turn off their computer. So as it might not affect you, others are hurt. The outcome is the same both ways
Exactly what Snow said on the rules. If you get a handbook on how to build a computer and you don't read it and end up breaking it, it's on you.

And how do you ensure that they know the rules? A warn will ensure that they know whatever they did is not allowed.
Considering we have a message that broadcasts every few minutes telling you to read the rules, I would assume it's on you if you mess up.
From what I have observed, it isn't frequent, or doesn't happen. I don't recall seeing it, so I doubt that people will see it when it appears. The only way I know to see rules in game is by doing /rules.

What I'm saying is, it should be a warn first, then a ban. Yes, some people get really affected while some don't.
What if there was no handbook provided and I am unable to find it?

Yeah I agree with you on that.
The handbook is a real life example I was using to the avicus rules. You should be able to find it, since it's broadcasted and told to players. If you still can't find it, staff can direct you.

I don't see it broadcasted, or it's just me. All I see is the message to join the forums, the Walls tournament, and the discount for ranks. And exactly what I mean, "told to players" in the form of a warn. Right now, excluding the grace period, it's a straight out ban.

I'm almost positive it's broadcasted.
As for not finding the rules, you can always ask staff for help or even a link.

That takes initiative. Most people like me probably don't have that. Sure you could say it's their fault for not reading the rules, but issuing a warn makes sure they 100% know and can't find an excuse to defend themselves.
And can you take a screenshot of the broadcast? I personally have not seen it.

With all due respect, that would be your problem. If you can't take initiative to do that, then you can't blame staff. It's your own fault.

Read my edit And it's the majority. I'm sure it would it be fun to get banned off a server you liked for something you didn't know was so severe. Tbh, when I join a new server, I usually don't ask for the rules. I don't think it's just me.
Well that's like saying we should warn for hacking before banning.
Hacking is regarded universally on most servers as illegal, it's logically not allowed. This on the other hand, some servers aren't so particular, some servers allow it and some don't, because this is the internet and the online world.

Telling someone not to kill themselves ( or saying something similar ) is also plain common sense.
You don't think that not telling someone to kill themselves, is plain common sense?
wow..
That mentality is the reason why this rule is being strictly enforced.
This is the internet, you should expect verbal abuse and all that kind of stuff. So you would expect it to be somewhat allowed. Of course, you say it on this server, whether you meant it or not, you get punished.

Telling someone to kill themselves will never be allowed here. Saying that "this is the internet" doesn't justify someone to tell someone else that they should end their life.
Obviously if you're talking with friends and everyone knows it's a joke with all parties giving consent, then you won't be banned.
But Cyber-bullying is a very serious issue. and telling others to "harden up, this is the internet would else would you expect?" doesn't cut it with a community whose player base ranges from 11-18 year olds. (Kids who aren't mentally capable of dealing with insults.)
Although it may be a joke to you, you never know what the person on the receiving end is going through.
I honestly don't understand why people are arguing.
Don't tell people to kill themselves if both parties aren't consenting. It's literally common sense.

Never said it was a joke
Not going to bother to continue this any further. Just add a simple warning before the ban, nothing hard to do.
This post was a waste of time, practically all of us knew it was wrong already to say that kind of thing. The community knew that even more. Could of just added to to the rules or added it to the punishment guidelines.
Wasted time which could have been on something else, because the amount of argumental posts and flames on this have wasted staff team time.
It is ridiculous. But look at it this way. What about all these poor kids (I'm talking just hitting teen years or younger than me anyway - 17) who solely depend on insta, facey and other garbage as their main port of communication. They're reliant on this, which is stupid in and of itself which is why the term was coined.
This post was made to clarify a rule there is no need to further the discussion on this post. Hence, I am locking this post.
