You are not able to apply or ask, as you are invited to become a map developer. A map developer is a person who extensively contributes to the Avicus Network through YAML creation, advanced building skills, and other miniature things as a community member. To become a map developer, you must follow the following qualities;
= Be able to work quick, efficiently, and have good roots with the community. = Be able to know how to use Github. This is what the maps are stored in along with the YMLs. = Be able to make markups with little to no errors at all, and show to be able to have ability to fix them. = Be able to regularly work on projects that the map developers set up, such as community events. = Be trustworthy. Once a map developer, you get access to Build, Staff skype chat, and the staff forums.
= Be able to work quick, efficiently, and have good roots with the community. Efficiently KK! Good Roots KK! Quick K... Nu, if you want work guud take your time... "Steady one wins the race" = Be able to know how to use Github (a coding platform). This is what the maps are stored in. Check = Be able to make markups with little to no errors at all, and show to be able to have ability to fix them. Check. (Few errors in my first yml :( Not bad in ma others doe) = Be able to regularly work on projects that the map developers set up, such as community events. Check = Be trustworthy. Once a map developer, you get access to Build, Staff skype chat, and the staff forums. Check. Don't believe I ever let anyone down trustworthy wise. (Currently making YML's for people that ask ^_^)
Just thought I'd post what qualities I had on here :P (Not asking through a metaphor, I nut like dat)

If im not wrong, github can be taught after promotion since you dont know what you are dealing with bfr being allowed to view it. But its up to the mapdevs/howsie
This server uses pure yaml right? No xml or whatever?
It just uses YAML. Nothing else! @yoav I personally would like for mapdevs to know how to use github BEFORE they would be promoted, however I was able to teach Evocal and he does fine. I'm able to teach anyone else how to use it for map work.
Oki guys so I decided to put together a small Github tutorial and this is most likely how you will put the maps onto the repo.
Let's Start: First make sure to download the Github software, which can be found here: Windows: https://windows.github.com Mac: https://mac.github.com You can also use another software called Git but is a bit more complicated so we will not use it.
Step 3: Open the Github software. - When your first open the Github software you will see a login screen so just go ahead a login.
Step 4: Open the repo were you're going to put the maps in, if you get accepted as a map dev you will most likely put them in an organization repo. To be able to open a repo you have to clone it by clicking this button:
Step 5: Once you have cloned your repo you will be able to open it, and now you can find it here: C:\Users\USER\Documents\GitHub.
Step 6: Have the map packed in a separate folder like this:
Step 7: Move the packed map into the repo folder that you found on Step 5.
Step 8: Commit the changes:
Step 9: Sync your changes:
Step 10: When your done syncing your changes the map should be loaded into the repo like this:
