Private Chats on Teamspeak! by Iron April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

Recently we had a bit of a debate about whether we would implement private chats, so I decided to ask you guys whether you would like them! *Note* If we do have private chats would you rather have chats that can be made by anyone, but disappear when you leave, or we could have X amount of private chats, but too get in you have too ask a mod for the password.

Anyways, Discuss!

HarryRules2002 April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

Love this idea! I think it would be very good.

hasl April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

I'm just going to Copy & Paste what I said in the Staff Discussion.

How about a custom made channel? You create the channel under the 'Custom Channels' section then add a password, poke whoever you want to join it the password. Custom channel right there.
And when the creator logs out, it deletes itself

I like that idea.

that used to be a thing but then it got removed

Zedther April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

It's also called "poking" and using "skype" instead .-.

Posighdun April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

I also like Bizzem's idea but we should restrict who can make channels or else we will have heaps of channels. Maybe this could be a donator rank feature?

shahmi April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

I like the idea to let anyone make a private chat

Iron April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

Really? How does one speak with pokes? Well, we would like too get more people on Teamspeak... Also what if you want too talk with more than just your friends? You cannot make friends on Skype, with Teamspeak you can actually meet people.

kycrafft April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

This is nice but it would split up the community

Iron April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

There aren't enough people on Teamspeak too make this a problem, one person can only make one channel.

Legoche April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

I would say no, it would split us all up. Besides, if there aren't many people on teamspeak then you can go to an empty room

Jehna April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

I think it would be something good to implement when we get a larger player amount on ts. If it was implemented now, it would in fact split the community like kcraft said.  But whenever we get a lot of people on ts, it would be really nice to be able to make private channels.

Zedther April 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM UTC

I don't know about you, but I make friends through skype, and actually meet people.

Notalgicular April 17, 2015 at 4:04 PM UTC

This ruined OCN mumble..
People only go in private rooms and don't ever go on public ones like team speak was meant for

Dyspa April 17, 2015 at 7:04 PM UTC

This will ruin TS by separating us, everyone would make private chats and we wouldn't talk again with some people. Also, we'll have to get more people on TS to implement this cause we're not that many people to make this an issue already.
Huge -1.

I'm gonna have to agree with Juano on this one. -1

Emmaye April 17, 2015 at 8:04 PM UTC

Well considering most of is don't want to use TS when there is more privacy and prefer Skype instead, and TS just looks more dead.

Atdit April 17, 2015 at 11:04 PM UTC

My opinion to this situation: Create some channels, with the limited user function.

I know why so many people disappear from Teamspeak: becuase they get banned away D:

just joking by the way.

BoldAndBrash April 17, 2015 at 11:04 PM UTC

this could be abused (people excluding others)

but overall its fine i guess

Joao_Victor April 17, 2015 at 11:04 PM UTC

The 'Custom Channel' thing worked great when we had it last year.

mustafa April 18, 2015 at 12:04 AM UTC

Hmm seems legit

PokerFace April 18, 2015 at 6:04 AM UTC

I don't know about you, but I make friends through skype, and actually meet people.
Can confirm :D

Strmr April 18, 2015 at 7:04 AM UTC

I don't think we should do this. It will result in elitism, there anren't a lot of people in the teamspeak and if they are all in private rooms ther is going to be a bery tense atmosphere in the teamspeak

SnowSX3 April 18, 2015 at 7:04 AM UTC

I don't think we need this.
It's not like TeamSpeak is crammed with people 24/7

Just go to an empty room.

Pelpelajax April 18, 2015 at 7:04 AM UTC

Teams will most likely receive private rooms during the tournament.

RightSide April 18, 2015 at 7:04 AM UTC

This is a good idea for teams and stuff but surely on a regular day people might become fairly anti-sociable with other people :(.

FrozenSolstice April 18, 2015 at 7:04 AM UTC

My concern would be that users would go, make a channel and just hide in there. It already happens with donors going to premium suites, and staff going to their channels.

I disagree with this.

FrostedCupcakez April 18, 2015 at 7:04 AM UTC

This is a cool idea, but like some people said, others may just create a channel and not use the ones we already have. It's nice to talk to people in Teamspeak, and with Zed's point of just going on Skype. I would say that certain people prefer Teamspeak due to the extra features such as push to talk. But this was a nice idea ^-^ However, I disagree.

MilkshakesMC April 18, 2015 at 1:04 PM UTC

That's a good idea I like the idea that we can create one and once everybody leaves it will be deleted.

Dyspa April 18, 2015 at 1:04 PM UTC

I think most of the people in this post disagree with the idea..
Just, don't do it, it'll ruin teamspeak as mentioned several times above.

Notalgicular April 18, 2015 at 2:04 PM UTC

Teams will most likely receive private rooms during the tournament.
.....
Umm not definitely?
Wont a ref need to be there?

I just confirmed with Tel, it will happen.

I honestly think this is a bad idea. People like privacy, and I understand this, but I really like being able to go on Teamspeak and meet new people. This is just a personal preference, but it doesnt really effect me that much considering I find private chats unnecessary anyways.Whether this does get implemented or not, I just hope that group activity on teamspeak doesn't change.

Pigbeard_Pete April 20, 2015 at 3:04 AM UTC

Yes!Yes! Very much Yes! They are so useful, if you want to just hang out with friends without randies butting in, or for tournaments. Private rooms for tourney teams might be the only reasonable way for team members to communicate during tournament matches privately.

FrozenSolstice April 20, 2015 at 9:04 AM UTC

Teamspeak is meant for players to connect and chat, am I correct?

How can they do this when players choose to hide away in these "private chatrooms"?

GalaxyBen April 20, 2015 at 1:04 PM UTC

Iron, Buddy, Great

GalaxyBen April 20, 2015 at 1:04 PM UTC

Great Idea*

GalaxyBen April 20, 2015 at 1:04 PM UTC

But at the same time, It wouldn't be appropriate, seeing as it only has about 2 people on it at once. I like this idea, but and the same time I dislike it
