K/D is just bland, kill death ratio. PvP K/D is kills and deaths from actual pvp. So, if you were spleefed out, you spleefed someone, or you were knocked into the void(I think), it wouldn't count for your pvp KD.
PvP K/D is basically the times you come in combat with someone and you get killed by someone, normal K/D is kill and death ratio of everything together, meaning kills and the deaths you have gotten in everyway you can.

I think PvP KD doesn't take out knocked out of the world, because in essence you are still being killed by the player.
