I don't understand by dcrising2002 June 14, 2014 at 1:06 PM UTC

The only infraction I don't understand is advertising. I think you should be warned in game, then tempbanned for ten days or so. If they get caught again they are warned next time is a ban and if they do it again, they get banned.
do +1 if you like the idea.

Lieutenantpants June 14, 2014 at 1:06 PM UTC

I don't think advertising should be an instant permanent ban. It should be a warning or a kick immediately, and a permanent ban if they do it a second time. However, the severity of the punishment is decided by the staff member and it is up to them to consider the factors of the situation and deal a punishment they believe is just.

dcrising2002 June 14, 2014 at 1:06 PM UTC

you"re right

dcrising2002 June 14, 2014 at 1:06 PM UTC

Ok it should be this.
You are warned, kicked then warned then banned.

dcrising2002 June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

do +2 if you like this better

MissCarmel June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

I think it should be maybe a tempban and then a ban.

fazer153 June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

let a mod clear the chat out first if there is a mod in the game, and then either warn, kick or tempban.

Beautifulistic June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

Agreed.

The_Detonator_ June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

I generally, if it was said by blatant mistake due to lack of knowledge on the rules, will tell them to be careful with mentioning an ip, and if they do it again I will, unfortunately have to ban them. People who spam it in capital letters saying free op deserve no such warning.

Why not just mute them permanently?

The_Detonator_ June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

Why not just mute them permanently?
If someone comes on and starts spamming advertisements, they clearly have no intention of contributing to the server community.

TortouseMincer June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

Advertising should be a warn then perm-ban.

Hacking should always be a perm-ban, but more easily unbanned.

Verbal abuse should be a two-week temp-ban- the staff get a lot of abuse.

NuclearDucky June 14, 2014 at 2:06 PM UTC

Mm..true. :/

Doubt that staff check punishments before punishing anyway.. some staff punish the same person 6 times for the same thing. There'd be a lot of advertising.

Yes I agree because advertising is really bad.

vladthegreat100 June 14, 2014 at 4:06 PM UTC

I would say ban, I am sorry, but
1. The rules clearly warn them
2. Advertising here will make people think about the server and wan't to check it out
3. They go to the server
4. They might like it better and leave the avicus community

...

its just a way to keep players

Mooch24 June 14, 2014 at 4:06 PM UTC

"Remember that it is your responsibility to keep updated with the rules."
That's located in section F of the rules.

goldenwalrus909 June 14, 2014 at 4:06 PM UTC

Yes, I agree. A ban is too serious-- later they might learn their lesson and won't advertise anymore but can't get back on. I think a kick isn't serious enough-- I could see the person who advertised getting back on in a couple minutes and doing it again until someone bans them. A temp-ban is going to be the best because it's a mixture of the two. You have time to learn your lesson and you can still get back on and have fun (:

Agreed.

I would say if the person advertises in the form of saying the server name but not the IP then it should be a warn

If they advertise the server in the form of an IP then I would perm ban them, no excuses for deliberately typing out an IP.

steven5703 June 14, 2014 at 5:06 PM UTC

This is what should happen.

"hey wanna play on badlion"
"sure"
"It's okay to say a server name. just don't say an IP. Thanks!"
"the ip is badlion.net"
"lolbye"

I said badlion ip in chat on a 1000+ player server and got 7 day tempban for spam advertising (I said it 12 times)
if it was avicus I would get 12 death sentences (perma bans)

1Theodore1 June 30, 2014 at 9:06 AM UTC

If the player advertising is intending to drive people away from Avicus to his server, like:

"Hey guys, join myserversip.domaingoeshere, staff needed!" or "drop party at myserversip.domaingoeshere!", then is should be perma.

If it's a mistake like:
Player1: What's the IP to that server?
Player2: Oh it's myserversip.domaingoeshere.

Then it should be a tempban. Unfortunately, this is only my opinion and the rule states that mentioning an IP in chat is a perma, so I've indeed banned people for the second example I gave.

The staff should say dont do it and if he still does it then warm.

hpux July 8, 2014 at 1:07 AM UTC

It's a whole different story if you're just saying the ip to a friend. If you're spamming the IP in caps, it means you don't care about the server, therefore it should be a permanent ban.

He's right though. Please don't bump topics because they leave the front page.

The conversation ends where it wants to.

Now here, have some money.

A lot of advertisers just spam the heck out of you with their Ip.. They obviously don't want to play or care about being banned..
If a mod catches them and they tell them to stop, they'll be like "Oh, crap" and say "Ok." Then, they take a break and come back to spam you once again. If you don't ban these types of people, you just give them a second chance they'll take advantage of. If they say an Ip once in chat, however, I don't think they should get any sort of punishment unless they're persuading you to go on their server.

Salty_Kevsu July 22, 2014 at 3:07 PM UTC

I was insta banned from false advertising but you know it's w/e
