My question is that if I have an 3.5 mm jack headset and plug the jacks into an external USB sound card and then connected the sound card into an USB extension cable and then put the extension cable into my PC would my headset/sound card be recognized? Thanks for reading! :)

It would. All you have to do is then go to your Control Panel and select the headset which you plugged in!

I do the same thing with my microphone headset.

Yea, as Porkey said, just check your system if it will set your external sound card as the "Standard Recording Device" or what ever xP

And don't forget to update your drivers, if they won't auto-update ;)
