November Week 4

Biweekly Rotation Update #4

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the fourth biweekly rotation update. In this update, the sneak peeks are taking a break, as the next update will be based on the mapmaking contest's results. In addition, from now on, with every update the map developer team will be listing goals that they are working on achieving by the next update's release.

The rotations receive updates every two weeks, at a minimum. This is not a static restriction; there may be a case where we will release an update on a week after a previous update.

In these updates, maps needing removal shall be replaced with new maps from the testing list, or with older maps that have been out of rotations recently. The updates are not meant to be complete overhauls of the rotations; they can instead be considered general maintenance.

» Destroy Update «
Daisy was removed due to possible server-freezing issues.
The Mines (by  ProfessorUtonium & ALM) was added, after being accepted from the forums.
Rendezvous
(by  ParaPenguin) was added, to infuse the rotation with a tiny bit of nostalgia.

» Capture Update «
Revolution was removed due to being in the rotations for an extremely long time.
Madness (by _DISTRACTION_ KojaCola & Fouled) was added to replace Revolution.
Cinercius (by ViceTechnicolour & EDJM9) was added, to explore a new CTW map style.

» Conquest Update «
Stadium Arcadium (by  ViceTechnicolour) was added, to slowly start reintroducing FFA to Avicus.

» Walls Update «
All Walls updates are on hold, temporarily. They will return with the next biweekly update.

Here are this week's map development goals:

  • Fix all the contest map XMLs so they are perfect for the play tests. Testing dates will be announced later.
  • Add more Avicore maps for Nebula events, and possibly the regular rotations as well.
  • Modify the amount of diamonds on Walls maps.
  • Assign a map developer to be head of builders, and begin implementing a new builder organization system.

As usual, you may post feedback (or maps that you want to see in upcoming weeks) below.

Expect a thread to be posted within the next few days, which will be a general update on the map development team. It will contain our long term goals, and will provide an open discussion with the community about rotations and maps.

I didn't actually think FFA was going to make it on public. I'm thoroughly impressed and I'm really happy that you guys are willing to move forward and try new things, because it means a lot to the community when you do.
