A Few Fixes for Tournaments by DonaldMyTrump January 19, 2016 at 7:01 AM UTC

A few things need to happen before the next tourney.

DaFrozenBlaze January 19, 2016 at 7:01 AM UTC

Screenshare before banning.
And if you demote the officials, I don't think anyone will take their place.
Agree with the rest.

kycrafft January 19, 2016 at 7:01 AM UTC

Agreed.

SSing is pointless with this stupid temp ban for disconnecting rule, until that's fixed it's useless.
Officials have proven they can't do the job, gotta move onto the next batch to find someone who can.

And that next batch will probably be worse.

If a lightbulb is out do you leave it that way because "the next one will probably go out too"?

PokerFace January 19, 2016 at 7:01 AM UTC

I think the Advisor rank would feel like it had more purpose if it was changed to Official and Official was changed to Event Coordinator. Regarding the hack detection, I think plugins are the best shot at that.

Changing the names does nothing, that was pointless.
In case you didn't know avicus's anti-cheat is a meme and devs are pointless and useless. Regardless of their "plans".

Lol, I forgot to mention about the role changes as well :p

I have faith in their plans. Progress is super slow, but I think that it can be done.

Thing is progress would be indicated by an upwards swing not a downwards spiral.

Things have improved. It isn't obvious but it has.

Such as?

Subscriptor January 19, 2016 at 7:01 AM UTC

Agreed with all except points 3 and 5. Also agreed that in tournies players should be screenshared before banned.

Iron January 19, 2016 at 9:01 AM UTC

Avicus has no anticheat, it was disabled.

Pelpelajax January 19, 2016 at 9:01 AM UTC

What about event staff playing in tournaments? I think that's a main issue that's causing a lot of confusion inside and outside the event staff team. In addition, I'd like to add that plugin's are very limited, and we need a lot more to make something run smoothly and organised. We can be blamed for certain things, but it's not all down to us. We have to work with the tools we have.

If I'm not wrong, that's how the floating name tag glitch was fixed?

I believe so.

+1 for officials not playing.

I thought he wanted tournament staff to not play in tournaments...

Tazz January 19, 2016 at 12:01 PM UTC

Maybe you could say how we could improve instead of saying we all should be demoted doesn't help at all  if you haven't realised yet Zac.

Demote all of the playing event staff. Fix tournament bugs, ss before playing. Refs have to be handpicked or atleast have Some kind of experience like à moderator does.

There are a lot of playing event staff now and enough refs seem to be coming for matches to happen. Maybe officials shouldn't be able to though.

That doesn't matter, you become ref to be a ref, not to be someone shining with the rank.

If refs are both refing and playing, there is nothing wrong with it.

How is it possible that like 6refs show up at like league games? And other then that, why do you want to be ref? To play in tournaments, no, you want to be ref to help the staff team in events.

Iron January 19, 2016 at 5:01 PM UTC

If there is an excess of referees, then there is no reason for one not to play. As a consumer of Avicus, its not your moral obligation to commit to your duties 24/7. In the event an opportunity is presented, why not take it and play. Also, we have 20 refs, 6/20 is a mere 30%. Not to hard for that many to show up, especially due to the similar times matches have nowadays.

And what if only 6 refs keep showing up, all the time? Why can't for example an admin play his own event that he is hosting? Although he is a consumer of Avicus. The fact that refs and officials can play make the staff team even more unorganized.

Iron January 19, 2016 at 5:01 PM UTC

Refs are not part of the staff team. Nor does it make anyone unorganized, except for the official team. There is almost no problem in refs playing, however officials playing is another issue. It's not an admins job to host the tournament because they/he/she might not have experience with such an event. Hence, why we have around 8 officials. I said 6 as a hypothetical number, I wouldn't know which refs show up when.

''Goes to the staff page, finds the refs there'' hmmm, something went wrong. And yes, it makes the official team unorganized.

I have given Officials feedback for months. Nothing has been done. You all deserve to be demoted for failing to do your job, move over and let the next group have a try.

Iron January 19, 2016 at 5:01 PM UTC

No they are not staff, they are event staff. Why would we make another page for a single set of 20 to 30 users?

Pelpelajax January 19, 2016 at 6:01 PM UTC

I agree w/ Budah.

PokerFace January 19, 2016 at 6:01 PM UTC

Is DC's ideas still possible? (The one where you join with a given client and you can only connect with that specific one)

Pelpelajax January 19, 2016 at 6:01 PM UTC

I don't think it's feasible. Players should be forced to join with a specific client in my opinion.

JoeVC January 19, 2016 at 6:01 PM UTC

tbf if that happened then hella lot of cheaters gonna be exposed xD

Well, we'd low down cheaters eventually but no one would be exposed.

But do the officials/staff team ever listen?

Doesn't do anything. People have created countless threads about the tournies and the officials with no effect. Give me a chance to actually address yall.

BoldAndBrash January 20, 2016 at 12:01 AM UTC

alright, let me rephrase. You don't do stuff, but you do listen.
You said "But do the officials/staff team ever listen?" after you agreed that Zac be allowed to discuss it on TeamSpeak. It's a mystery to me why you think talking and typing makes a difference.

If you actually think the Tourney staff haven't improved from last time, then you mustn't be looking very well.

Wahiz January 20, 2016 at 2:01 AM UTC

+1, We should have a new batch of Officials and I agree that Sr Staff shouldn't give the Officials all the work.
Also Game play should reflect Avicus, Not OCN. Also Officials Team (I'm pretty sure, they had a chance to fix things) but they didn't so why should we tell them what needs to be fixed when they should know already..

Jahaj January 20, 2016 at 2:01 AM UTC

+.85
I agree with everything except the point "Officials need to all be demoted." I think that they need time, and I have seen improvement between the tourneys, and hopefully the next one will be even better.

Kauzar January 20, 2016 at 2:01 AM UTC

No offense but, can we actually get opinions from people who take part of these events?

Robin_DD_J January 20, 2016 at 9:01 PM UTC

I have played in all tournaments aswell as Leagues and have had 0 problems. My only concern is how the official team work as a group. Aswell as the communication between refs and teams. And obviously the server and the major bugs it have.

Edit: The maps aswell, they are quite bad

So overall there is maybe a bit to do, but the planning from officials I saw no problems in. There's a difference between having to wait for a team because the team is delayed and having to wait for the event Staff bc they are taking so long.

I dont understand your last sentence can you rephrase that or tell me what it's refering to?

From my pov, whenever matches got delayed it was because of a team and not the event Staff
