I really do hope that Avicus doesn't update to 1.9, it clearly isn't going to be a good thing for many PvPers. Please say in comments anything you want adding ;)

Pelpelajax May 28, 2015 at 3:05 PM UTC

Avicus is going to update to 1.9. It can't stay on the same version forever. It is what it is.

Rainstruck May 28, 2015 at 3:05 PM UTC

Avicus is going to update to 1.9. It can't stay on the same version forever. It is what it is.
And you know this because...?

GrantInPhoenix May 28, 2015 at 3:05 PM UTC

- Don't Update to 1.9!
- Keep the server playable in 1.7 (for 1.7 players) and 1.8 (for 1.8 players)
- you could create like a mini-server for anyone who wants to play in 1.9 w/ a different IP

- ill add on more later when i can think of more

steven5703 May 28, 2015 at 3:05 PM UTC

People are just going to have to accept change. Minecraft cant stay the same forever or it will get boring. Avicus will have to update the 1.9 when it comes out or the player count will drop even lower.

Personally, I like the change and in looking forward to the update. Shield, awesome. Not sure how the duel arms are going to work though, but i like the idea of it. Quivers are cool, but im not sure about the new arrows. If the avicus community hates it that much when it comes out, they can block 1.9 mechanics.

Quivers? Fine
Shields? Fine, just like any other armor piece
Dual wielding? I really hope it's not going to be what i think it is, which is, faster hitting!

Really Kylo decides if the server will update to 1.9 but also it can make the playerbase drop lower. Just sayin :/

JJTheGuy May 28, 2015 at 5:05 PM UTC

Minecraft 1.9 PvP update? HA. More like Minecraft 1.9 Make-Game-Easier-For-Little-Kids Update.

He does decide, but we can't stay on 1.7/1.8 forever. At least, that's my opinion.

Well, Minecraft is made for little kids..

OriginaI May 28, 2015 at 7:05 PM UTC

I for once am actually looking forward to this update, yes, it will twist PvP, but regular PvP will still be here, like normal swords and normal bows. Imagine dual wielding potion PvP lol

DaGoldBrick May 28, 2015 at 9:05 PM UTC

"You cannot dual wield weapons. Well, I mean, you could, but you can only attack from your main arm so it'll be pointless." "What people have been calling the "shield slot" from my previous screenshots, is actually more accurately thought of as the off-hand slot." After these 2 statements, don't really see a problem with 1.9 imo.

Fuseh May 28, 2015 at 10:05 PM UTC

;c

_Stormz May 28, 2015 at 11:05 PM UTC

I don't think it'll be too much of a problem. It just means there are more options now. :P

Zintenka May 29, 2015 at 1:05 AM UTC

I will paste a comment I made on another topic like this...

You guys need to stay calm.

IMO, dual wielding will be fun and it will allow for more options in PVP.
Imagine, if you have a sword and you need to switch to make some extra damage to a hard opponent.

Just dual wield a bow as well and go ham.
Hell, even dual wield two bows and walk out like a champion gunslinger and light up your foes.
You guys focus too much on the negatives. This will not ruin PVP, in fact it will add more depth to it.

And what's wrong with learning the ropes again? Only close-minded people and ones who cannot adapt will complain about this.

You learned it once, you can learn it again.

And in what way does this makeMinecraft like COD? In Halo 3 you can dual wield, in Star Wars you can dual wield light sabers, in COD you only dual wield certain pistols and SMGs.

Please, stop this.

The "stupid" update, in other words 1.9, just killed the few pvp mechanics that were still ok.
Good job Microsoft!

You clearly don't see pvp the way players in Kohi/BL/OCN do, if you knew how MC works you could tell this update will be bad.

Funny you blame microsoft because this wasn't their decision at all. They still have to work out stuff between the two companies, blaming a company that is still negotiating things doesn't make sense.

In that case, it's even funnier cause both companies are ruining pvp.

I'm sure it's pretty possible that those servers can code fixes to not incorporate 1.9 items, or not even add it in at all.

Elaborate? I've always seemed to enjoy Microsoft's pvp functions.

PVP has been ingrained into my soul.

The update doesn't ruin PVP, its just a new way of PVPing... If anyone does not have the mental capacity to adapt again to changes, then uninstall MC.

You'll just be back a few days later or a week to continue.

The Sprint key was an issue for you guys... now look at everyone... you all now use it because its reliable and helpful in navigating terrain as well as PVPing.

Why can you guys not see the usefulness in this update?

ViceTechnicolour May 29, 2015 at 1:05 AM UTC

What stops pavilion from removing them? Why is kylo the "supreme guy"?

If there was enough community input, I'm positive he'd make a statement. Though more effortful of a task now, he still is capable of responding to feedback if it's brought to his attention. If it's a private, dev-savvy matter, he still would privately reply.

The only thing I see not useful is the complaining about change. It's the same exact requested features on reddit and MCF and even OCN/Avicus communities that wanted more PvP features, but everyone is allergic to it. Some of the features like shields have been long standing requests, and blockhitting seemed to always be a complaint.

Dinnerbone specifically looked to the community since he didn't know much about PvP, and look. We're burning the bridges that we built.

Dyspa May 29, 2015 at 1:05 AM UTC

@Zintenka: I'm not going to quit MC just for a bad update, I'm just stating the update is sucks and it'll ruin pvp overall.
"The sprint key was an issue for you guys... now look at everyone... you all now use it because its reliable and helpful in navigating terrain as well as PVPing"
It is, and I still consider it useless, at least it is for me. I liked those days without it better as duels and stuff were more competitive and more skills were required.
@Tanpopo: I keep forgetting Pavilion but does that really matter? I know he's one of the most important people in here but still, I don't care. Now, I don't want to go on with this but from the time I've been here, less than the 50% of the feedback given hasn't been taken in count (I'm not answering replies about this cause I know it'll get as into a long discussion).

So tell me, how will it ruin PVP?

Dyspa May 29, 2015 at 2:05 AM UTC

So tell me, how will it ruin PVP?
Ok to start with, they haven't fixed the mechanics they ruined in 1.8 which makes it even more worse. Mixing something that's broken with something disgusting isn't ok right? KB is just trash right now and you can clearly see it in CTH for example where you can just hit someone twice and he would literally fly 8 blocks away or, sometimes if you hit someone over 10 times, he would just move 1 block. I don't really know how could they mess it up so much.
Hit detection is another problem, sometimes you wouldn't reach the hitbox but still hit the other guy which gives some people an insane advantage over the others. If you don't get what I'm trying to say just imagine someone that can't aim at all but giving insane combos without even looking at the other guy (Noobs  being good cause of the broken mechanics again) or imagine the autoclickers as well + the delay here in Avicus is amazing, it doesn't matter if you're lagging or not, your hits still wouldn't register at all sometimes.
Block lag, well, I don't need to explain this right? You can ask some rushers and most of them will tell you they're annoyed with it.
Duel wielding. This is not an FPS game, you got COD, CS:GO and some other games for that. The main purpose of MC is survival and bulding and I find it useless having more weapons just to kill the few type of mobs we have. The sword and bow were just enough + how would block hit work? I don't like the idea of swaping from one weapon to another, it doesn't match with the game's main aim.
Servers and cheaters. Imagine what would happen with the 1v1 servers we have right now. Imagine shields in Kohi or bows with op quivers, it wouldn't fit and I already see people quitting from here. Cheaters would just make more clients and abuse the new weapons and the damage they can do which would break the game even more making it more unfair than it already is.

I can keep going on but I'm too lazy, sorry for the bad grammar, I'm in a hurry.

MidnightBeats May 29, 2015 at 2:05 AM UTC

You know what we COULD do? Keep Avicus 1.7/1.8 as long as possible to keep the players satisfied...

AutoHit May 29, 2015 at 3:05 AM UTC

At least we can't dual wield weapons to attack
Minecraft PvP please don't change to much

I do not know whether they will fix this or not but I believe it will be fixed. You have to give them a chance. Besides, if it only happens in one gamemode, then how is that 1.8's fault? Nexus used to have the super fast click glitch even in 1.7 only.

I believe that it will most likely be fixed in this update. Probably. Take it up with the developers of Minecraft.

How is this 1.'s fault? You can blame this on NCP...

I know another voxel game that uses dual wielding as a main mechanic... Skysaga... stop comparing this to FPS's... "Its not like you're gonna go on a: OMG I GOT A 23 KILL STREAK!!11!!" Stop comparing this to an FPS, you're not dual wielding pistols neither SMGs..

You swap out weapons on a daily to switch to a tool, surely you can do this as well? Obviously, the same type of quivers will be given to all players so this is a null point. If they quit then that is on them for not accepting change. Don't cheaters already make clients? This is something we will have to cope with all the time.

hooray pvp sounds like it will be shit in 1.9, adding "useless" things we don't need

It probably will, I'm surprised you invested so much time into minecraft, seeing as how you do not have faith in the devs.

Besides, the Omega Update was pretty good. We got back CTW and thats all that matters.

Seriously, you're r00d.

1. Yeah, so, do you have any problem with that?
2. You might be right, they brought CTW back but the mechanics Avicus has right now are trash as mentioned before.
3. Ok?

_DC May 30, 2015 at 4:05 AM UTC

So people want to keep a combat system where the only skill is the combination of movement + clicking you use...? That's weird. The new update should double the amount of skill in PVP, for which I am glad.

It's both's fault, Avicus and 1.8.
You gotta stop dude, your arguments are making no sense.

You gotta stop dude, your arguments are making no sense.
They make perfect sense to anyone willing to understand 'em, I offered plenty of reasons why you guys are overreacting. Simply hitting cube people with sword is getting a bit boring.

So why not spice things up a bit and add more features? You haven't even tried the new stuff out and you guys are already complaining.

Atleast wait until the update actually comes out then you may wish to complain about the little itsy bitsy things that seem to anger you guys as if someone stole your money.

Legoche May 30, 2015 at 7:05 AM UTC

The block and hit has always worked, am I right?
It has gone now, and will be banished as Blocking is removed.

lactify May 30, 2015 at 9:05 AM UTC

Honestly everyone, we should give it a try before complaining. It could turn out to be a great update.

NO MORE BLOCK HITTING
GO GO GO!

Upsoar July 30, 2015 at 8:07 PM UTC

What I've Found While On The Snapshot.
-Blocking is still a thing.
-Block-hitting more closely resembles the 1.7 version as opposed to 1.8
-Cannot use bow in off-hand slot.
-Ender Pearls are smaller and move faster.
-Splash water bottles. They can put out blocks on fire and entities on fire.
-We seem to still have 1.8 style knockback, but I'm not sure about hit-detection because I can't find a pvp server on 1.9.
This is the first snapshot, MANY things will probably change. Certain features are still supposed to be added, while a majority of features now are still not finished. I.E. Dual wielding, dragon respawns, etc.

Paperwite July 30, 2015 at 11:07 PM UTC

I think this update  will be harder to use because what if someone comes up to you with an iron sword and an enderpearl how do you know which one he will use and whatsoever.
