Optifine Settings Help! by BoldAndBrash October 19, 2014 at 8:10 PM UTC

I have an average of 30fps on avicus. With Optifine, it stays the same. This makes it really hard to record because it drops to 20fps. Could you guys tell me what to make my settings to get more FPS? Thanks! Sorry if the question is stupid!

Set everything to "fast" or "off"

If you hold your mouse over the buttons it tells you what they do.

I fixed it for you.

Anyways, here are some things you can configure to get maximum FPS, at least I think so ;p

Video Settings
Graphics: Fast
Smooth Lighting: Off, 0%
GUI Scale: Small (but I recommend normal/large :P)
Brightness: I don't think this matters.
Fog: Off
Render Distance: 2 Tiny
Max Framerate: Unlimited
Advanced OpenGL: Off
Chunk Loading: Multi-Core (heavy on your computer, though)

Details: All at "Off"
Animations: All at "Off"
Quality: All at "Off"

Performance
Smooth FPS: On
Load Far: Off
Chunk Updates: 1
Fast Math: Depends on your CPU. I keep mine at "Off"
Fast Render: Depends on your Graphics Card, I keep mine at "On"
Smooth World: Depends on your CPU
Preloaded Chunks: Off
Dynamic Updates: Off
Lazy Chunk Loading: Depends on your CPU

Hope this helps! c:

No problem! However I'm not exactly sure if any of this will actually help, so if anyone actually knows the inner-workings of Optifine I think you should follow their advice ;)

EDIT: Hehe, I use 8 Normal. It's the minimum render distance to see my custom skies <3

Pretty sure 1000fps is slow motion XD

Sevoo October 19, 2014 at 10:10 PM UTC

1:Use Optifine version 1.7.2 C_2 (NOT FORGE USE MAGIC LAUNCHER,cause vanilla helps on reducing lag when holding an enchanted item, although if that is not enough heres a link you can put in your prefered texture pack:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HUxbV83qgw&list=TLfb0XpdTGWVGtohP7MbzFl3z65En_XlUm use the enchantment glow you like,I prefer the one moving but still visible)

2:On this version of optifine (1.7.2 C_2) will not make a difference with the render distance (I put my render distance on 32 EXTREME=40 FPS,same with tiny or other) so use this pack.

3:Look a tutorial up for ALL the OF (optifine) settings for maximised performance

No problem brah, got you covered <333

Sorry I'm not paying the slightest bit of attention to what anyone else is saying. What is your recording software?

Fraps

MLGtino October 19, 2014 at 11:10 PM UTC

Fraps
So do what I do.

Don't record in fullscreen.
Shrink down your Minecraft and record with Fraps locked onto just your MC.\
My computer gets 15 fps on fullscreen, but 60 without.

Edit (This video is was my first time without fullscreen): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Hj5dUehBBw&index=9&list=UUrF4PBR7jOF1R0wgY_awzlg
^ That was recorded in fullscreen. Although the quality is bad, the fps is beautiful. Even without a GPU I got great FPS without fullscreen.
The F11 key is your enemy.

I used a cracked version though, but I'm sure it won't make a difference.

Right?

Your computer needs a GPU to display output. Are saying your computer has intergrated graphics with the cpu?
