Which do you chose for defense? by Zintenka August 9, 2014 at 1:08 AM UTC

Y'know when you're about to go to the monument and some guy follows you, making you have a sense of suspicion and dread?

Then you guys have an arguement over which building block to use to cover the monument... like this:

You guys argue the whole time then while you're distracted, an enemy comes and crouches behind the wood he built around himself and mines the heck out of the monument.

Feedback is appreciated :P

Never cover the monument!

Infivix August 9, 2014 at 2:08 AM UTC

Honestly, if I were to cover the monument, I would use a TON of glass. With wood, it's easy to sneak and mine through all the wood. But the defenses that I find hard to beat are the ones where the defender mines all the blocks around the monument, and the monument is 5-10 blocks In the air or so.

Exactly, Yoshi.  I prefer to use glass to cover the monument so the defenders can hear if an intruder has arrived. :p

BOSS_Turtle98 August 9, 2014 at 2:08 AM UTC

Covering the monument in general is a no no.

PieZ August 9, 2014 at 2:08 AM UTC

Fucking kids...Cover it with wool so it looks like a tree

GamblerTheGreat August 9, 2014 at 2:08 AM UTC

By far the best defense I know is take the whole monument and leave the obsidian floating in the air. After that make a pillar directly under the obby and pillar up a couple blocks on top of the obby, finally put ladders on all 4 sides of the pillar

IMO, Slabs on the ground, Buttons on the monument, and a big wall infront of it.

puffytrn5751 August 9, 2014 at 2:08 AM UTC

I use different methods on different maps >-<

always cover the monument with things like ladder and buttons

Zintenka August 9, 2014 at 3:08 AM UTC

Personally, as you can see... on the right is me. So y'all already know that i chose glass.

The reason: Glass has a loud and distinct noise. If someone attempts to mine the monument, i will hear it when it breaks and rush to it. It also helps to set pressure plates because they are basically motion detectors. If someone steps on one, I'll know ;)

The objective of my defense is to make it as noisy as possible.

I also encourage you guys to break your bridges when building over to a monument.

JKawesome August 9, 2014 at 3:08 AM UTC

compromise: you guys cover with glass, while the other team covers it with wood :P

In 1.8 you will be able to place buttons on the floor which will be really irritating.

kycrafft August 9, 2014 at 4:08 AM UTC

Cover it in TNT.

Zintenka August 9, 2014 at 4:08 AM UTC

Last I checked you can't destroy obsidian with it.

cinammoncroc000 August 9, 2014 at 4:08 AM UTC

I just let the obsidian sit in the open and I wait.
Then, I get bored and this happens:

Ultimately, we usually win, miraculously.

What about everything else or... me!

I use tnt whenever someone covers themselves. I set TNT like crazy all over their block and blow 'em up.

TNT doesnt affect your own objective.

What if the other team lights it?

General guide to defense! This is what will happen:

1. Start defense
2.  Team mate comes over
3. You start thinking "fml"
4. Your teammate builds some crap over your defense
5. More team mates come
6. They do the same
7. You try to stop them but it doesn't work
8. You get pissed off and decide to go on offsense
9. The other team break the monument.

This happens to me every game. Ever wonder why I I don't defend?
