Except the real thanksgiving is next month
You know, cause it's not a Canadian holiday, an American one

Ogrey October 10, 2015 at 9:10 PM UTC

Where I live we don't even celebrate this, but happy holidays to you and the rest of Canadians around.

Thanksgiving is celebrated earlier in Canada than in America because Canada (which is farther up north) begins experiencing winter weather sooner than America does. The purpose of the holiday is to express gratitude for the crop harvest once the harvest season has started coming to an end, meaning there's no "real" Thanksgiving — it's a seasonal occurrence, and seasons vary by location.
